Fundraising initiative supporting clubs raises over £117,000

Armagh GAA Club Draw now in its second-year aimed at driving fundraising for clubs and county has reaped rewards from this innovative fundraising initiative. With four-monthly draws, tickets are now on sale from every club in the county with the first draw taking place in March.

Praising the work of clubs and driving home the importance of the Armagh Club Draw, Michael Savage, Armagh County Chairman said,

“This fundraising initiative is available to every club in the county and already we have seen the huge benefits based on last year’s draw with over £117,000 invested directly into our clubs.

“It is encouraging that even more clubs this year have embedded this initiative into their fundraising plans. Clubs are really making the draw their own and many have tailored this to suit their priorities – whether that be to develop and improve facilities or simply maintain day-to-day running costs.

“The main objective of this club draw is to provide clubs with a risk-free platform to fundraise but it also provides an opportunity to raise funds for our County. Our clubs have agreed that all funds raised for the county will go directly to the development of a much-needed county training facility, and in year one our clubs have raised a fantastic £47,000.

“It is a well-known fact that we need better, improved facilities for our county teams and plans are progressing to develop a county training facility at St. Malachy’s, Portadown. I strongly encourage everyone across the county to get behind this fundraising initiative to support your club and county.”

Over 100 prizes are on offer with a total prize fund worth over £90,000. Tickets cost £100 for four-draws with a guaranteed 80% raised going directly back into club funds (after each club reaches their minimum target). The four monthly draws will take place in March, April, May and June 2019.

To purchase a ticket, contact your local club or for more information call Armagh County Board Office on 028 3752 7278.
