Very interesting competition. I'd be very confident that my all time Armagh fifteen (that I have seen) would be different from the team that the panel picks, so I'd be very tempted to try and second guess the panel. For the record, my team would be.

1 Brian McAlinden

2 Andy Mallon
3 Colm Hanratty
4 Mark McNeill

5 Paddy Moriarty
6 Kieran McGeeney
7 Martin McQuillan

8 Mark Grimley
9 Paul McGrane

10 Oisin McConville
11 Joe Kernan
12 Fran McMahon

13 Stevie McDonnell
14 Ronan Clarke
15 Johnny Corvan

Two good teams from Rufus and Berfa. Mark Grimley was the best fielder of a ball I ever saw and Johnny Corvan was a genius.

Not sure on Harps bias though. They did pick 2 Ogs players.

Indeed. I'd imagine Francois would make a lot of all time 15s. The thing that always struck me in these debates is the number of top class players who came and went between 77 and 02. There are a number who are present in my team and others who just missed out - Feargal Harney, Gerard Houlihan, Kieran McGurk, Neil Smyth.

To be fair to ye, I'd not have the knackers to even attempt naming a team. I'get it narrowed down to about 200 players and then argue with myself why there isn't one of the other 200 worthy of a place. By the time I'd have that settled I'd to up around 500 and then realise I started picking people I never even heard of or that played in a different county. Now I don't even remember the point of the post........ as you were!!

I think most people tend to remember players from our successful years, and select their team according to that. Which is unfair to others who toiled away for years with little success.

I remember when we won Ulster in 1999, Jarlath addressed this very point in his victory speech. He mentioned a lot of players who represented Armagh since 1982 but never won an Ulster medal. Players like Kieran McGurk, Houli (although he was on the panel in 1999), Martin McQuillan, the Grimley’s, Neil Smyth, Martin Toye, Jim McConville etc.

Like @Big Jim , it’s nearly impossible to pick a team without leaving some great players on the bench. My head would be wrecked.
