Armagh Team of the last 20 years 2000-2019

Don’t agree with shoehorning AK in at half forward. Was one of the top wing backs in Ireland this last 20 years.
AK would not have been at this most effective at half forward-but if his selection there means that both K McKeever and AK are selected, I'm happy enough with that. Positions then become slightly less important

He’d still be in my team because he was a classy footballer but thought he retired about three years too early

I wouldn't have selected orourke as I think he was well past his best 15 years ago. Mcentee and Marsden played very little football for armagh in the last 15 years. Jamie Clarke should be an automatic choice. Donaghy certainly deserves his place and I'd have him in defence. You could have Donaghy at 6 and geezer in midfield.

The fact that Donaghy and kernan are selected in positions they never played shows the derth of talent we have had in midfield and half forward in the last 15 years. What a pleasure it is that we now have the likes of burns, the oneills, murnin and Campbell to select from.

Hmmm, two things I think you're missing the point on. First it's the last 20 years, and your theory would rule out most of that those suggested as even Geezer played little in the last 15 years alone. Secondly even though few acknowledge it, Marsden is possibly one of the best players we ever had and even fewer fail to acknowledge it's unlikely we'd have won in '02 if it hadn't been for his vision in getting Tierney to pick him out with the kick out that started the move that ended with McConville's goal.

John Toal played less and was less effective, yet you'd still have him in your team and Jamie has only really had a couple of good seasons. I'm not disagreeing with any of the players, just saying that opinions are subjective and just opinions. Brilliant for conversation and discussions, but can also lead to disagreement.

I'm just delighted that we have had the privilege of seeing such talented players in our teams, but massively disappointed in how unsuccessful we were in terms of All Ireland titles.Thankfully that changes in 2020!!

Agree with all of this, but would like to add in support of Marsden that he scored three points from play in the '02 final, and that two of them may have been the most vital on the day. He scored a point just before halftime which brought the deficit back to four points and gave us hope, and also scored the first point of the second half which suddenly made all things possible!

Why what happens in 2020 Marty... I mean @Big Jim ?
Well ya see back in the day, I'd this auld silver yoke and I used it to great affect. jumping around all over the place. I even managed to bribe...I mean persuade an old bloke to leave a cushy wee number unexpectedly in the metropolitan area, which in turn throws them into disarray. Just watch my prediction come true!! in the ensuing madness, Armagh get trained by a top class MMA coach and then...............yeah you're right, that's a bit far fetched. Believable until the MMA bit!!!

Absolutely. Marsden was one of our best forwards ever, let alone from last 20 years.
Always felt he retired one year too early (2004). His presence in 2005, might have been enough to get us over the line against Tyrone.

Apologies. I'd thought it was the armagh team of the last 15 years! Marsden would certainly be on the team from the last 20 years. My mistake.

I'd still have Jamie Clarke in and McCann in instead of o'Rourke.
