This may seem like a very stupid question (don't even think about it @PatMustard or even you @Calm1 :p) but if both teams were thrown out of the competition (g*d forbid in our case) how would this be a punishment to Tyrone who are already out having been beaten on Friday night? Would it be the case that they would not be allowed to compete at this grade next year or is there a back door system in place which means despite being beaten on Friday night they are still involved?

More importantly, are we still in & do I need to try & get tickets for Ulster Final Day? :)

Yeah good points. If a Tyrone player played his last u20 game on Friday, and was sent off, does that suspension carry into senior football?

Seems unfair to disqualify next years team for either county, as most of that team could be overage.

And if Tyrone and Armagh are thrown out, will Fermanagh or Down or whoever be taken off their sun loungers in Ibiza to play in the competition?

This is an excellent and probably obvious point-removal from the competition would not be a form of punishment for Tyrone unless any sanctions apply to next years competition (which I would doubt).
Each of the provinces run their own championship in their own way.
The Leinster championship looks to be the most complex and is divided into two groups, each of which is run on a round robin basis. The Ulster championship is a straight forward knockout format with no backdoor. Once you are out, that's it (as far as I know).
The winners of Ulster are scheduled to play the Connacht champions.

I'm told that Tyrone have lodged an objection based on Armagh using substitutes during the 2nd batch off extra-time which is apparently against the rules ! Anyone confirm ?
It also looking like the game will not be played on the 24th June as the disciplinary process may not have been completed by then !

As if I needed any further excuse to hate Tyrone with a passion :mad::mad: I suppose they will also be wanting the 1995 All Ireland replayed or awarded to them!!! Apologies to all the young people on here offended by such strong language, i.e. @ragingbull & @Muckser the rest of us oldies can probably handle it ;):D

strange this! I distinctly remember the Armagh substitute being sent back to the dugout but Tyrone sub coming on in 2nd half of 2nd period of extra time. Surely the 4th official would not have permitted substitutions if this contravenes the rules??

Well, I am really shocked! I am really shocked... that you feel you need an excuse to hate Tyrone ;)

By the way, what happened in 1995? I'm too young to remember that far back.

@Benjie if we need you will you be able to attend a disciplinary hearing to provide an eye witness account of proceedings on the night in question? :)

All joking aside if this is true it shows just how bitter Tyrone are in defeat. You can talk about "rules being rules" & they should be applied but if that's the case then Quigley should have been given a straight red in Brewster Park for punching Brendan Donaghy in the face, he wasn't so the rules weren't applied in this scenario. I love the fact that the GAA will be sticklers over "technical" rules, if that is indeed the correct term to use, but hey ho to the other rules, apply them when you feel the need & never worry if you don't.

In fairness, armagh laois in the seniors a couple of years ago a laois substitute who was on the pitch for a minute with the game already over to all intents and purposes resulted in armagh getting another bite of the cherry(which was a disaster BTW). But this appeal could be a compete myth based on Chinese whispers
