I actually believe Tyrone know they have no chance of a replay, Armagh being kicked out seems to be the only rational explanation.

I'm been told that a possible outcome is in fact a replay as the Tyrone appeal is ' Technically " correct !! If there is a replay both sides will be considerably weaker as they will both lose 6+ players. Also the Ulster council are keen to have a Final as the cup is named after the late Danny Murphy , former Ulster Secretary.

Yeah my understanding is that the ref gets removed from the inter-county list [in this case] for 12 months so a period of retraining can be applied. I have to say though, that I thought on the night that the ref and his officials handled the game quite well and up until the incident there was little for either team to complain about. Yes one or two strange decisions, but that'll happen in a game as we don't all see the same things.
maybe so but the linesman clearly saw the headbut by number 2 on RMC Quillan and appeared to communicate this to referee - no action?

please correct me if I am wrong but Eoghan McDonnell had been substituted before the wee bit of a square dance. he was subsequently red carded along with our number 7.
Tyrone had 2 active players red carded, so technically in the 2nd period of extra time Armagh should have started with 14 players (as Mc Donnell had been substituted) and Tyrone with 13??
Maybe I'm wrong........

Yeah I had seen that said before and to be honest I saw neither the incident nor the resulting convo (ok alleged convo) so it's impossible to know whether they both decided that neither had clearly seen anything warranting a card or decided to let it slide. Anything else is sadly mere speculation. Like I said, one or two strange decisions, but we don't all see the same things, or more accurately see things the same! When the day arrives that refs in these bigger games are mic'd up like rugby, there'll be no hiding from it. That's already on trial in Croke Park so most likely be rolled out eventually. Most officials are in radio communication anyway and it isn't that hard to record those.

Game goes ahead. No word of suspensions until tomorrow nite. Tyrones objection overturned.
I suppose its easy to say this now-but in reality there could have been no way that appeal was going to go through-the precedent set would have caused chaos.
I still suspect the overall Tyrone agenda here was just to act the bollox and make life as difficult as possible for Armagh
Onwards to an Ulster Final and a search for tickets. Hope we are not too depleted in terms of players suspended. Derry are a decent outfit-knocked out one of the favourites (Donegal) and have a real monster of a player in Callum Brown

See Kieran slightly bemused at a Tyrone ref appointed for Sligo match

Surely the Armagh County Board should now be lodging an objection to us having a Tyrone referee for our game against Sligo ;):)

In all seriousness though given everything that has happened over the past week how can our association think it is logical to appoint a referee from Tyrone? Hopefully it works in our favour, he's that determined to show his impartiality that he gives us every 50/50 decision & a bit more :D

I would say from a Sligo point of view that they would not be too happy about an Ulster ref appointed for this game-but it is not that unusual for an appointed ref to come from the same province as one of the participating teams.
I think Kieran raised his eyebrows a bit at this given the Sligo manager is from Tyrone

Have just seen on another discussion board "10 Armagh U20 players suspended for match against Derry" We'll be struggling to field a team at that rate!!! The whole thing has been a win win situation for Tyrone whatever the outcome, we on the other hand were always destined to lose out one way or another.
