With the U17 Ulster Minor/U17 League underway, maybe we might have a discussion on their prospects. Admin can advise on whether we may actually name players or not?
I also gather that we have a good U20 squad. The aim is obviously to have this replace minor as the showpiece underage level. Maybe we have a chance of an Ulster Final if things go our way.
We understand the reasoning behind not naming young players on the grounds of child protection and would like to respect those that fall under the category. I know that U17 is different from U18, but once they are in the squad and named in programmes, then good natured discussion will be fine. As long as everyone keeps the comments sensible and not using personal details or giving them a thrashing which is stupid anyway, then as usual it's a members forum and the rules are entirely up to the users. Self regulation is what we aim for. If a post goes outside what we deem acceptable we will temporarily remove the message and PM the poster to explain why we think it shouldn't be on the thread and hope this is acceptable to all.
We'd also go as far as saying that comments like "xxxxxx" played well for the U17s on Saturday against "yyyyyyyy" and looks like a prospect for the future. A great player from "zzzzzzzz" club etc. You know the type of thing.
We'd genuinely be interested in hearing the views of members on this and if they feel this is fair and appropriate. Thank you for raising it before making comments.
By the way, U17s won well against Down last Wednesday evening and also beat Cavan well on Saturday after having a bad start against Monaghan the week before. Young lad in corner forward played well I believe and is maybe from Ballyhegan. Also a lad in midfield possibly from Silverbridge, with a great long kick. Don't have any other details at the minute sadly.
