I think the half back line was one of the most difficult after full forward. But no way James McCarthy should have got half back - he was nominated for midfield and plays midfield the majority of the time for Dublin.
McCarthy was always going to get an award (winning captain), but was he nominated for both half back AND midfield? (Or did I hear wrong?)

I think RTE just made a mistake, so I looked up the list of nominations. In fact Brian Howard was nominated as a defender with McCarthy nominated for midfield, but I do not think RTE mentioned Howard last night (I cannot rematch the programme).
If so, was McCarthy squeezed in at half back because he couldn't get in as a midfielder?
