Armagh hurlers suffered their third successive defeat of their 2018 Division 2B campaign in a wet Ballycran on Sunday.

Armagh did open brightly, but a well-worked goal gave the home side an early boost. Down won the vast majority of puck outs in the first half and a second fortuitous goal pushed them well ahead at 2-10 to 0-5 at the break.

The Orchard hurlers did step it up a gear in the second half and converted frees from Connor McAnallen and David Carvill brought them back into the game. A third Down goal somewhat killed the Orchard’s momentum, and with the visitors struggling to find even a half-chance on goal, it was Down who finished off stronger to claim a 3-15 to 0-13 win to keep their 100% record intact.

Next up for Armagh hurlers is a trip to Derry next Sunday, followed by a home game against Donegal.
