Started reading this a few pages back and gave up.

I agree that there is a tendency for players to hit the deck and hold their head. There may even be a case to claim that Roscommon are but fonder of it than most but it’s a distraction. On first viewing on TV the ref looked bang average. No massive complaint.

3 more issues.

Composure. Lacking today. Maybe a bad day at the office, maybe the wind but looked like some terrible decisions including balls skyed in the air.
Basic skills. How many passes a yard or 5 behind their target. I’m talking fist passes here. When trying to move the ball around quickly to open up a defence especially when you need a goal every backward step or extra delay gives the opposition time to close gaps.
Tackles. We make it too easy for opponents.

It’s a fans discussion so fans are allowed to name players but I’m not getting in to that as I disagree with the accuracy of some of the personal criticism already posted but I will say this: basic skills, tackling and composure under pressure are really important. A so called good player isn’t a good player if they lack these. A few who have it in them to be very good players need to do a bit more on the basics.

Mackin going off at half time coincided with us losing control in the middle but I guess they had no choice
Picked up a silly yellow for a clumsy foul

Despite playing poorly at times if we had converted the goal chances we probably would have won. On a broader point a simple change in the playing rules to make frees have to travel forward would improve the game as a spectacle. I can't be the only person who groans every time a free kick is driven backwards. The change wouldn't put any additional pressure on the referee which I think is the objection to many other rule suggestions.

A medic of any kind cannot be removed from the sideline for any reason (probably obvious why), but can be noted in a referees report and then suspended like any other panel or backroom team member. As the commentary didn't even mention it, it's unlikely to be dealt with. We complain there is a northern bias and things like that do nothing to reduce that feeling. At the same time, Rian raised his elbow to an opponent and got a yellow card. For the 3rd game I think he got away lucky. His talent should be enough for him to answer with.

Without using the stupid language of others, it is so frustrating to watch us play backwards when we need to score. On the 21 attacking only to play all the way back to between our own 45 and 21 on at least 5 occasions. Haven't seen one of our players score from 65m out never mind our own 21.

Who really cares about Down or any of the others when we are looking at our own inadequacies? We were just about woeful today and other than Duffy and maybe [maybe, maybe] Grugan, there weren't too many glimpses of positive play to grasp onto.

We're NOT facing relegation so that is a bit premature - my opinion! However one more defeat (which seems inevitable next week now) and that'll be passed the half way point and nothing to look forward to in the last 3 games, means it's now a battle just to survive in division 1.

The phantom "head injury" is easily dealt with and no one can argue it puts more work on a ref as the fourth official can easily deal with it in big games like the black card. When a player goes down with the head injury, they simply HAVE to leave play for a minimum of 2 playing minutes (not a farcical 2 mins while his team run down the clock) for a proper examination. It's simple and will reduce head injuries by 95% immediately. A ref is not (usually) a medic and cannot assess an injury.

Perhaps one additional thing to consider is the advantage of playing at home. Of the 12 div 1 games played so far only Armagh have won away from home.

He was lucky. He was launching into tackles all half. Wrecklessly at times. I’ll put it down to rustiness
