Disappointing result and performance yesterday. Going into the match I was quite optimistic that we would get the win. And 45 mins into the game I was still confident that we would.

But that 2nd half performance was nowhere near good enough. Too many basic errors all round. The management and the players will know that themselves.

The only positive is that surely the players will come out next knowing they have to put a performance in. Whether that will be good enough to get the win and stay up we will just have to wait and see.

Finally I have to say some of the posts I have read are completely over the top and calling for current management to leave is just ridiculous in my opinion.

Always love as a county when we lose there seems to be bandwagon. Definitely don't see as many post whenever we win a game
Yep, agree with that.

How are Galway fans thinking today? They weren’t much better than us, but just got, well, one crucial score at the right time that got them over the line.

Are their fans saying they’re not good enough? Are they criticising their tactics? Are they calling for Padraic Joyce to be sacked? I’d imagine a lot of them are in the “we were rubbish but we ground out a result” line of thinking.

Perhaps we all need to adjust our expectations with this team?

Following our performances last year, where may i add we only won 2 matches (against a very poor Tyrone at home and a Donegal team who were playing on fumes after a tough run to the Ulster final), we seem to think this team should be competing at the top end of Division 1 but maybe they're more naturally a team that yo yos between Div 1 and Div 2?

They have achieved absolutely nothing in the Ulster championship and always collapse when the going gets tough (Donegal 22, Monaghan 21, Cavan 19). Perhaps relegation candidates in Div 1 is the true nature of this team.

Yes they probably are thinking about the result, but they haven't had a league full of bad performances and have 4 all stars missing, I think Armagh fans are right to have questions of the approach of play, Iits not great to watch and if they where winning the games I'd still wouldn't be obey happy but you would get results but that's Galway Kerry and rosscommon where we never showed up for a half

We played negative football towards the end of the 00s and it was really hard to break that mentality. I fear this is going to start again and really ruin the team

It is right to look towards a successful campaign this year, that was certainly my view at the outset and still believe it to be possible.
I do not believe that we are seeing any of the Division 1 sides possibly bar Mayo showing their full hand at this point.
That said, we should not be looking down the barrel of a last day shot out, results dependent.
Our expectations of our county team have no middle ground, with a few wins, we automatically dream of the halcyon days of yesteryear.
Sometimes though we have to temper our expectations and how we respond to defeats.
The team and management will be hurting just as much as everyone else this morning and I can guarantee that many will have experienced a sleepless/restless night and will be working this morning towards resolving our failings.
These people are our family, friends, neighbours, club men and community so although we are frustrated by aspects of what we have seen, continue to be kind in our words in the time ahead.

It's hard to know what to make of that last night. Didn't post last night, not sure I can stomach a post this morning but will try. There was an inevitability about that loss last night. Galway chipped away at our lead and it was coming to be honest. That we only started to play after they got the goal in the second half is shocking.

People have their opinions on McGeeney and it's pointless even debating it at the present as he and his management team are there for the season. So he is going to have to find a way to get more out of this team. One thing I will say though is, I'd rather be beaten by a few points having had a go and playing a bit of decent football than be beaten by 1 or 2 points with 15 men behind the ball. It was turgid. 7 scores in a whole game and one of them a fortunate goal. That's on the set up as much as it's on the players.

I have made this point numerous times, to play a running game you have to transition at a serious speed, because the opposition can reset their backline as fast as the attacking team can run with the ball. What opposing teams cannot do is reset a backline at the same speed as an accurate kick pass can be made.

Armagh are hard to watch this year. We as supporters know it, and even with it we will get behind the team, it's who we are, but it's bloody frustrating all the same. Last nights result has been a real kick in the teeth, but we will be in Omagh next weekend.

Will also ask this question with Armagh tinted glasses on. I watched the last few minutes again on rte. Could we have had a penalty just after the og burns shot was saved at the end, was our player trying to follow up and shoulder barged off the ball with the Galway player making no attempt to play the ball himself. Am I clutching at straws here to make myself feel better? Will gladly take a catch yourself on response if I'm being overly angry at the loss of a possible decision

I thought at first it could have been but like you I was clutching at straws

I’d be more pissed at the 2 clear frees that gough denied us at the end before their goal that IMO would have killed Galway off
Duffy was clearly fouled on the end line - ffs 2 of them practically jumped on him
Also Jarly was clearly fouled with a high tackle - gough waved him to get up, then gave a free and yellow card to Sheridan for a lot less

Last night was the worst performance I've seen from an Armagh team since a 2015 qualifier against Galway also at the athletic grounds.. totally aimless. It honestly feels like Armagh only become a genuine attacking threat when behind and when a game becomes chaotic and players start playing off the cuff and the gameplay goes out the window and something management have to take responsibility for.We have some great players so room for optimism and hopefully can get the act together and give us some entertainment when championship comes around

Have you watched the match back?
Armagh were in control for 60 minutes or so
A number of items I've noted:
Soupy and Duffy's misses in second half - Duffy's was a free in for sure.
Jarly ogs goal opportunity - leg block by their number 6. Possibly here a pass across the square was the better option.
Galway have the meanest defence in the division - conceded 67pts over 6 games.
Galways tackling in robbing the player was excellent.
There was a line ball given when very clearly the ball was still in play - Galway got a score from the resulting attack.
Taking Sheridan off was the right thing to do - poor passes and yellow card. This was a lost substitution.
Can't work out from videos what McCabe was yellow carded for.

In as much as it's very easy to point the finger at the line some very basic errors by players accounted for at least four Galway scores including their goal.
Ciaran Mackin was outstanding throughout

I am still raging about this loss.

We have got on managements back about not being able to defend but if the last few weeks have told us anything, we really are p*ss poor defensively, even when using mass defence tactics we are crap which is laughable when you think about it.

I find it odd that we have tried to build a great and entertaining attacking brand of football over the years but have now started defensive football. There is no balance to this team, it is either all out attack or all out defend why is it so difficult to understand there needs to be a balance of both? I don't think this issue can be fixed in the next week but if we are going to go down, I would prefer we went down fighting rather than sitting there waiting for teams to score.
