McCann’s is on John Street and does a nice pint of stout and is known for its music. It’s a grand spot. The busiest bar in the town is a few doors up from McCann’s and that’s Top of the Town, GAA, horse racing and best of craic.

There’s a newspaper sitting on the table for weeks now, staring at me every time I’m eating me dinner. Wedding photograph on the front. I recognised the bride when I glanced at it weeks ago.
I kept thinking, I must get around to reading that. And sure enough, when I did... there he is. The man himself, he has went and got himself into a “mixed” marriage. A proper GAA mixed marriage and all!
I’ll light the fire with it later

Remember talking to one of the players last year not long after the Donegal game, he more or less said they don’t listen to any outside noise or bullshit, because realistically none (or the vast majority) of us have any idea what its like to be part of a county set up, either playing or managing. The only people whos opinions matter are the lads on the panel and the management/coaching team.
Proper way to be imo. Rumours going round of fall outs etc, absolute waste of breath/typing.
Heard a rumour this week of an extremely important player having a longish term injury which I really hope isn’t true, but ideally none of us would be hearing anything from within the camp.

There’s a worthwhile sports/business book out there that’s a good read - Will It Make The Boat Go Faster. It talks about a character called Basil - and never to talk to him. Basil is anyone who is not inside the camp, even if they are an Olympic Gold Medalist or indeed yer Da!
