Why did Forker chose to kick the ball long with 2 minutes left on the clock. Surely the right thing to do was to keep possession. We lost the ball and Clare moved it up the field leading to the sideline kick which resulted in the goal. We can blame refs, conditions, umpires or whatever but it's the simple things that are in our own control that we should concentrate on.
And sadly it was so unlike him as I think he had a great game. Small margins Diarmi, very small margins! Again twice today we went for goal when a simple tap or fist over would have left us in control. Instead we played like U14s trying to be a hero with a goal.

Great post as usual Calm. The ref was poor and his performance created a lot of anger in the crowd but there is no justification for throwing. I complained after tele McKenna Cup final about some of our own fans who I had angry exchanges with. And now this. Do we attract a certain type of person?

Left a couple short too. We should really have 4 points

To me the stand out moment from a game that had a lot of moments.

I'm seriously hoping that whoever did that is on this forum and justifies being an asshole of the highest order. There were also at least one coin or object also thrown and someone even threw a programme, although I think someone in front of them was glad of the programme to shelter from the rain. Folks if this is what we have degenerated to and the standard that we want and accept among our support, then a serious rethink on what we are is needed and needed fast. That bottle is mis-thrown and hits a child in the face or on the head and does a serious injury. If it's my child I'm doing time for you. It's a goddamn game at the end of the day. I drove home last week knowing I'd to head straight to a wake house as I lost a relative during the game. Get grip on reality before someone gets hurt!

That lad at the start of the game was taken to hospital in an ambulance because he ended up with Charlie on him. Both those lads had reason to be annoyed at the ref. Didn't see either team do anything daft then. I'm sure Charlie and some of the lads will at least send a message to him because it's just a game!

Hear hear!

What’s this about a bottle?

Second half Pat when Clare clearly put the ball out over the sideline and took Jamar Hall out. Linesman gave Clare the sideline and a few players started pushing around and the ref moved the ball up. Someone from that area threw a bottle and a few other objects at the ref/officials

Incredibly disappointed, 4 points from the first 4 games would’ve been a dream start. However, 2 years in division 3 we can’t really complain with our performances, Kildare and Clare both good sides. Hoping these 2 draws will give the lads a kick up the ass, similar to how we reacted after poor start to league 2017 and our 2 losses in Ulster last 2 years. This division is tight and will go right to the wire, still in with a shout!

Some gobshite threw a water bottle onto the pitch. At the ref or linesman I’m assuming

Ffs like, is that what we’ve become?

Us fans represent our county, just as our players do. As calm1 said, it’s only a game at the end of the day.

Control the controllable. That's all a team can do to give them the best chance of a win. Too many times we kicked long near the end. Should have a plan in place as soon as we go 4 up to shut up shop. Fill the backs with bodies and leave a pacy guy in the half fwds and another in FF. Then we can break if it's on, but most importantly - our house is well protected

sadly today OL we seemed to be doing that with 7 minutes to go moving the ball well back and forth, then our support start to get on the backs of the lads and showing disapproval at holding the ball. Then get on their backs when they lose possession. Then get on their backs when they concede. We have to decide if it's win at any cost or pretend we're already above our station. I like how @Nab14 is looking at it.

Can’t agree... I thought he was poor today. his distribution and holding onto the ball when he should release is poor at times. 2 balls today he hit were trickling along the ground to men and we lost both... once he should have released it into O’Neill and lost the ball over the far sideline and grugan gave him the hairdryer. Then Clare had practically given up and had stopped even tackling across the middle and twice he booted the ball in- giving the ball away. Experienced player should control the game but listen Everyone makes mistakes and one thing you can never criticise forker for is the effort and the ground he covers in a game. I’m sure he will look at the video and learn from it. Hindsight is a great thing... I never would shout at lads having a pop for a goal. Unless you are 3 up in the dying embers of the game- keeper made a decent save but was straight at him.

Mccabe and rian O’Neill were superb today.
Hall had a big second half. Grugan some lovely touches but I’d love to see him on the ball a bit more.

We should be 2 from 2. I believe we are more than good enough for division 2 but need to start putting the points on the board. Such a tight division. Promotion or relegation battle is dependent on next week and Clarke will be a miss. Need soupy to be back on his game.
What happened with the water bottle?

For the second week in a row it felt like a defeat rather than a point gained.

Poor game management again and I don’t think you can teach ruthlessness but boy do we need it to edge games like that one.

Many positives to be taken from today though, some strong individual performances and if the injuries clear up then Down won’t be within 5 points of us in the Championship.

I'm laughing because it's mad how we can see things differently, but I think that's cool that we can differ and look differently at one point but still agree on your other points.

What happened with the water bottle? I'm just dying to say the Clare 22 threw it off the field, but I know that's not what you meant :D Sorry can't help myself!!

Even in the good old days we rarely blew teams away though, always seemed to be nip and tuck.

Mentally learning how to win a game can be the biggest stumbling block for many footballers but it is what ultimately separates an elite player from a naturally talented one.
