I’ll take that win, Longford will be sick heading back. I was impressed with them, well organised, physical and a couple of useful forwards. Ethan rafferty was excellent again today, what did he finish with 1:05? He did take on a few that didn’t come off but I thought he was our only credible scoring outlet. Crealy was out of his comfort zone in ff line, he did much better when he went into the middle. Shields and Donaghy struggled today. I actually though Longford edged the midfield until their player was sent off. Mcshsne was good in first half but saw very little ball in second. Grimley & grugan tried v hard. Onwards & upwards

Big Ethan Rafferty take a bow!
Some great scores ok but that is three games in a row that he has not give the simple pass that would have resulted in one on ones with the keeper, instead choosing to shoot himself. Did not make any difference against Westmeath and Sligo but could have cost us dearly today. He has started to deliver on his huge underage potential but his decision making is letting him down.
But as I said some lethal scores nonetheless.

Heard terms like daylight robbery & Lucky, I can see why people say that but we had vast majority of the ball and a lot of wides so at some stage we were going to win (time permitting) def not good today but that has to build character, Spirit & confidence. I’ll take wins any way they come. Longford much better than I expected well organised & more economical on the day.

One of the reports during the week said Ethan had “a blacksmith’s strength” which was evident with the power in his goal this week and also against Sligo. Great performance today from him. The team’s freetaking today left a lot to be desired. Need to settle on a kicker and persevere. Whether it be Rory, Niall, Ethan or whoever. But frees should never be dropping short, as what happened on a number of occasions today. Also, need to have calm heads, which can be learned, as shooting from silly angles in second half near cost us. Longford were very efficient with their scoring and will perhaps be disappointed not to leave with something, but feel after last years league we are deserving of a little luck. Great to have points on the board and would rather win ugly and luckily than not win at all. Roll on Tullamore

Wasn't great to watch today, and at four points down I really thought we were beaten...good win in the end though and we are in a great position now in the hunt for promotion...

Got a bit lucky today , but when you look back to last year we didn’t get much . Someone mentioned free takers , I remember Stevenson kicking a few long range ones over the bar . Was that the same lad who came on in the second half today?

My interpretation of the free takers situation would be that Rory is our left footed free taker within the 45, Ethan left footed for 45s & Niall right footed free taker, which would explain why there a few. I would agree however that today was our worst in terms of free taking to date, improvement needed, but something which can definitely be worked on.

If Rory would kick it a bit harder rather than the loopy Curley technique he has.
Forker hit a few Hail Mary ones over on the sideline. Like they’re 5%’ers. Stupid really.,

Feeling more positive about the future than I have done for a number of years. Beginning to feel that the panel is showing some depth, that players are starting to come through, and that we have turned a corner. Looking at the league tables, it is imperative that we escape Div3 and play at higher level. Even looking at tables, I feel that we would be at home in the surroundings of Div2 with nothing to fear. Getting out of Div3 is more important for our development than a championship run ( although that would always be welcomed), and should be the emphasis in 2018.

Hughes should be brought up for the free kicks, puts them over for cruppen all day long.

From the match today there is a brave few lads who played below there standard. Burns was 10 yards of his man every time the ball went in but had the sense to pull your man down at the end to kill the game out. Shields had the poorest game i’ve Seen him play in a while, Charlie was out muscled in the middle which doesn’t happen often, mini McShane was having a good game was surprised he was taken off would of had two or three others off before him. Rafferty put in a good shift but still needs someone coming into support him when he wins the ball too many times he comes out wins his ball then has to hold play up until support comes in or either shoots from impossible angles. Over all we played badly and still won so the boys have to be given some credit. Fermanagh will tell us where we really are.

Soupy good at frees........ Just saying. Might be biased but it's criminal more isn't done to get him back on side. He's no Jamie pissing off when it suits him, fella dedicated the last decade to armagh solely. Could do with his movement inside too

The fellas missing frees today had an off day. They score more often than not. On a dreadful day like today it is not the time to judge.

As for soupy I feel the county management are in a bit of a pickle here. Fellas have committed and are top of league. Bringing someone in at this stage might rock the boat. Reading Oisin O'Neill during the week no one has asked him either. Both would improve the squad ability wise. I am sure both will be asked to join up next year. I also suspect that if either wanted back now and they dropped a few hints then someone would give them a call to discuss the possibility.

Agreed but with the best of respect your Oisin whom we most definitely could use him and soupy are diff imo. Campbell has done all the hard years, all the sitting on the lines waiting for his chance. He's proved himself already and my understanding was he wanted to return when the league started - I don't think that's a ridiculous request for a key member of a panel
