Clan na Gael were very good yesterday. We managed to put the brakes on Stefan Campbell but Shane McPartland put on an exhibition. Surely he is one for McGeeney to be looking at? Some scores right out of the top drawer. Not sure what age he is but that was the best individual display so far this year in the Armagh club championships.

Glad to get out of it with a win, serious drama at the end and we showed a gritty side to dig it out against spirited oppositon and a referee (Phil Conway) who wasn't exactly on our side either.

Massive chance for Killeavy or Granemore to get to a final.

Surprised Dromintee managed to take Cross to extra time, Cross will need to improve to beat Maghery.

I took in both of yesterdays quarter finals. Two very contrasting games with both losing teams feeling sick today, a prime opportunity for both to make a semi final.

The first game was a joy to watch and Clans should have won it in normal time and again in extra time. Killeavy were far more economical with their shooting, Clans lacked composure at a number of key times when the game was there for the taking. I don’t think the ref favoured either side, he did let a lot go and you could argue one Killeavy player in particular got away with persistent fouling throughout the game.

I went into the second game expecting a formality more than anything, that did eventually materialise but only with the teams back 15v15 in ET. Dromintee performed commendably in defence but I dread to think what would have happened if Cross hadn’t been reduced to 14 early on. In hindsight Dromintee could have maybe threw the shackles off a bit going forward but it’s all academic now.

Killeavy this Killeavy that all i know for sure is i have never came across a bigger bunch of mouth pieces in my life than the killeavy fan base and secondly maghery will win the champonship not a shadow of doubt in my mind about that. Killeavy granemore championship semi final is actually laughable, granemore would not win the intermediate championship.

A win is a win but it was not nice to watch. Dromintee showed no ambition whatsoever to try to win it when they had the extra man and we were very sloppy in normal time with our shooting and decision making. Some questionable stuff from the ref and we definitely should have had a penalty which would have finished the game off.

From our perspective that will not do it against Maghery and they have to be favourites for the semi. Need to really pick up on the performance and play like we did in extra time through out the game. Anyway, another semi, another chance. A lot of young lads on the team so building for the future as opposed to the here and now.

Thought the ref was hard on Cross at times and it’s not often that happens. That match will stand to Cross, despite your propoganda. Down to 14 for most of the match, losing your best defender but still hanging in and seeing the game out comfortably in ET. The semi v Maghery is a 50/50, they were lucky enough to get over the line v Ballymacnab. Whoever wins that tie will go on and win it IMO.

Disappointed with Dromintee. Everything was in their favour, extra man, Morgan withdrawn, Cross shooting radar well off. A great chance if there had been anything about them but they were brutally poor, especially in attack.

A new member joining to give out while a championship defeat is still fresh, never a good idea. Granemore have regularly been at the latter end of the championship in recent years. They're never beaten by much and they never seem to get relegated from 1A either. So to answer your final statement, they'd win the intermediate standing on their heads, because they are a cut about everything from 1B downwards.

I stand to be corrected but i think from 2016 onwards they have made the quarter finals only once maybe max two times, which isn't exactly great. They are a terrible footballing team. They would not win the intermediate either they are a poor poor team so don't try big them up either, routine win for killeavy coming up and then defeat for killeavy in the final.

Nab beat them after extra time in the semi in 2019 and they were in a quarterfinal last year. They also easily beat a Mullaghbawn team who disposed of the county champions and were fancied to turn them over.

So I think youre the only man on this forum who thinks they wouldn't breeze the intermediate. They always stay up in 1A and thats got a massive bearing on championship performance. Zero conincidence that the 4 semi finalists are all 1A.

Am not saying we wont be favourites but Granemore are clearly no mugs when it comes to the championship

I also think youre dismissing Cross far too easily. They'll be much more up for Maghery than they were dromintee and have far more scoring power than anyone in the competition.

Very enjoyable weekend of football in both senior and junior, can’t remember so many tightly contested championship matches in one week.

It’s been mentioned by others on here in the past, but after years of experimentation with other championship formats straight knockout is the only way to go. I hope it remains as such indefinitely, only for covid we could be still playing meaningless group matches.

Cross will go into their semi vs Maghery as the bookies favourite but Maghery are the form team after beating much stronger opposition in the prior 2 rounds and I have them as my favourites as I’m sure many others around the county will have.

Granemore vs Killeavy also very hard to call, Granemore’s a very seasoned senior side despite @Jimbo85 not rating them, there’ll not be much in this one, again I think Killeavy will be favourites on paper but I do fancy Granemore to pull off an upset and make the final.

Killeavy have not impressed me one bit in the championship, infact they should be out so it would not suprise me if there is not much in this one because Granemore turn matches into a dog match as they cannot play football but there is not a part of me that can see Granemore winning this game because they are crap, it would actually be embarrassing for Armagh football if Granemore were able to make it to the county final honestly. It is magherys championship 4/1 still, do not say i didn't tell yous.

What have Harps men got against Granemore @Jimbo85
Absolutely nothing lol If granemore win i will swallow my words and put my hands up to say i got it wrong. Whoever wins the other semi (in my opinion it is a formality) wins the championship. Maghery Killeavy final and a routine win for Maghery.

Not sure that maghery do routine wins against anyone. They tend to grind out tight games and arent big scorers. Cross (and if they beat Cross which i personally doubt, then us or Granemore) wont be worrried about getting a hiding off them. Also when three of the 4 quarter finals go to extra time you can see that nothing is a formality in armagh.
