Right enough about the refs… back to football, who do we fancy for the semi finals?

Clann Éireann v Clan na Gael
I think the championship winner will come from this tie. You have to fancy Clann Éireann on paper, they’ve probably got a stronger bench to call upon and that bit more experience. It’s a local derby though and anything can happen.

Cross v Madden
I think Madden will give Cross their fill of it, they’ll have no fear and could even nick it. Cross are masters of squeezing out a result so won’t be surprised to seem them grind this one out. Cross are not as tight at the back and there’s goals to be got.

He took no prsioners here :p

Clans/CE- I saw our lads def go up a level against Killeavey, if they can bring this to the game then they are in with a shout. CE weren't overly impressive against Silverbridge and the performance was workmanlike. Both teams have pace all over the pitch and I think it will be an open enough game. If we look at the stats CE are technically playing at a higher level in terms of leagues and they have beaten the second best team in the county on league form at their home pitch by 9 in a league final. That team are also in the other semi so yes CE will be favs. This can go out the window though when a derby game enters the equation. The Clans have championship tradition and a far superior record at Senior level, they will be riding high and are in with a massive shout. Clans have nothing to lose and have been written off like the Harps were against Cross, they have passed every test so far and remain unbeaten, as do CE. Its def a closer affair than the betting suggests. Going for a draw FT and CE in extra time as they are the luckiest team I have ever seen to win a championship, I still have nightmares about that goal they got against Crosso_OI will be very happy should that prediction be wrong.

Cross/Madden- I fancy Madden, Cross are a team waiting to be beaten I feel, they are vulnerable at the back and I think Madden with their pace and power can exploit that. they had them on the rack a few years back but foolishly became involved in scuffles and lost their discipline, Cross went on to win comfortably. Cross are prob a team in transition and have brought in a lot of youth, their older players haven't the experience of the Mc Entee's, Mc Convilles etc. However I have the upmost admiration for AK who keeps going at a fine old age. Madden have probably a more settled squad and finished runner up in the league. Should be an interesting tussle but I will go for Madden by 4.

Cross love being underdogs. Remember them last year? Silverbridge should've beat them last year, didn't and Cross won the Championship with relative ease.

Can never write them off, they get stronger with each game.

If harps had to stop ballooning balls into the box in extra time and gone for points, they might have won at the weekend.

Both the DLB and DLO&W’s are flying, serious work being done underage up there which can only be good for the county. Think Clann Eireann might be a wee bit ahead though it’ll be some game and some buzz up in the buckfast land in the build up.

Cross and Madden be another close one, Madden have been improving in recent years but always think theres another level to Cross, most of their team is close to county senior or u20 standard, fancy them to win the whole thing.

Where you on the Buckfast when typing?:)
Bit early in the morning for me. More an afternoon tipple

In all serious, this is great for the town (although meeting in the final would have been some craic).
Intense rivalries like this can only be good for overall football in the county-thinking how Mullaghabawn/Cross meetings in 90s laid foundation for wider success for Armagh club and county teams
Both Lurgan teams enjoying fruit of hard work put into underage.
Lad O'Neil playing well. Lennox Camara-still involved?

Yes it is great for football in the town, there's not that much of a footballing rivalry as Clann Eireann are only recently at this level and Clans had dropped down a grade for the last decade. Prior to that the clubs would only ever had met in a North Armagh championship, which was a after thought. I recall very few games between the teams at senior level from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's.

Having said that it should be a great couple of weeks and the banter will be great, hopefully the football even better. There's already a debate night organised in a local venue, panel set up for the debate with a live audience. This should be eventful

First time seeing the DLBs in the flesh in quite some time on Sunday there.
They are well able to take scores. Good direct running. Very energetic all over the field and very much so in the tackle. They are certainly making the most of a talented group from what i seen. That said, they played most of the game against 14 men and a team who looked clueless. Can only beat what's in front of you though. Looking forward to it and to a good game of football. Therell be interesting match ups to be had
McCambridge on soupy? Id fear he doesnt have the legs (speed)
TK and McPartlan going up against each other?
Who marks Turbo
Intriguing

Awful shame that the Clans and Clanns have been drawn against each other in the semis. Would have been a great final for the Buckfastians and a great lift for Lurgan GAA as a whole. Let’s call a spade a spade, the winners of that semi are going to win the final. Both of them have the pace, tradition and scoring power to beat Madden, though Madden are not rank outsiders. They’ll account for themselves very well in the final but you just have to feel either of the Lurgan teams, most likely Clanns as they are a year or 2 ahead of Clans, have too much for them.

Fancy both teams to dominate in the next 5-6 years, plenty of talent there currently and the Blue fraternity have plenty coming through underage. Francis Street will be bouncing again

I think cross should win by 4 at least, the all lurgan clash will be some game, will be some interesting match ups, who marks turbitt? Will Kelly go on mcparlan? Will Campbell be marked by mccambridge? Looking forward to it and to 2 of the teams that have a bright future with the good underage work, I'd say clann eireann by 1 or 2 because I think they more depth but with clan na Gaels minors that might change in a year or 2, so a cross v clan eireann final for me, and that will be tasty, think I'd always side with cross but think James Morgan is a massive loss, just think if cross had a fully fit panel they give Ulster a rattle. But if clann eireann win would be interesting to see how they compete against Ulster teams
