It’s all banter. Buckshot is a legend alright. I used to serve him fairly often in Morgan’s back in the day

It's all civilised banter alright Niall, until them south armagh ones find out that Derrymacash have a "Killer" and north Lurgan have a real life "Bomber" handy with a chisel

Heads down everyone - Incoming......

Just a curiosity about the intermediate final. Has there ever been a final before without a card being shown?

I wouldn't just say that. It was refereed exceptionally by Fearghal Laverty. We are lucky to have him in our county
He hadn’t a whole pile to do. I always say the best refs are the ones you don’t notice and he definitely ticked that box the other day!

Just seen that Armagh are the only county in Ulster to not win an intermediate club title and an port mor the only junior club to win. I did see someone mention before about changing the amount of clubs at each level and I'd agree with that, we should have 12 in senior 12 in intermediate 11 in junior a and 8 junior b with the winner of this going into juinor a as 12th team, also I don't agree with second teams either think they should play reserves football

On the 2nds teams i dont really see what the issue is, if a player plays even 1 minute of 1st team action then they cant play with their 2nds that year so its completely different squads. Also the reserve football in armagh has never been reliable enough. A 3rd reason is that squad players from 1st teams would get more gametime that the weaker players putting their lot in with the 2nds squads so that wpuld probably deny quite a few lads from the clubs with 2nds teams from football

Completely disagree with Wide Ball myself. The current reseve leagues within the county don’t lend themselves to developing players. In the previous few years we were lucky to get a handful of competitive games.

I understand not every club is blessed with big numbers but any club that wants to give their members good, competitive football should be allowed to do so.

We have seen serious development throughout the year with young lads in our Seconds team.

Yeah reserve football is fine for teams that probably struggle to get 15 for it, a reserve team from the likes of yourselves or Cross would annihilate reserve teams from most clubs whos purpose is to give lads gametime and a bit of craic as well. I see Cross were able to field a seconds team and a reserves team this year, breeding like rabbits up there!

I agree with second teams in the league, but not championship. A championship title, especially the junior means more to clubs who have been starved of success.
I’m sure for the CE players that won the Junior it’ll have meant as much to them as any other player in the championship. How often do seconds team win the Junior, once every in 20 years? If they play all year in the league they’re entitled to have a crack at the championship.

Forget sentiment - the fact that Clann Eireann (and Cross) are able to field II teams that are pushing intermediate standard provides a stark indication as to what level our Junior clubs (and intermediate) are currently at. The onus is on those clubs to match or exceed the levels of Cross and Clann Eireann. In any case, I am confident a Junior championship medal means as much to those Clann Eireann men and their club as it does to any other player at that level.

Given the disparity in standard, seriousness, numbers etc; reserve football in Armagh is a difficult grade to administer. Having plied most of my football career at that level I know only too well of the lack of competitive football for the stronger teams - and at the other end of the scale the struggle to even field a reserve side for some clubs.

It begs the question would any other clubs consider fielding a IIs side for next year? Cullyhanna, Pearse Og & Dromintee have done so in the past with varying success, any other clubs have the numbers? A rising tide lifts all boats and perhaps an extra one or two teams at that level might help raise standards.
