Would be very interesting to see the full squad list for the new season to see who’s in out etc
I think if everyone is honest they’d be thinking isn’t that great for the lad and then equally thinking “feck sake, another good player gone from the Armagh Squad”. My honest view would be that the GAA needs to do something to protect our games against this poaching. Even if a player must sign a contract with the GAA and then if poached by them Australians must pay a percentage of the fee to the lads club - or something. I just feel the club will miss this player more than the county imo. The club trained him from he was a child. I’m sure everyone in silverbridge will be delighted for him but wouldn’t it be even better if they got a kick back on it - to ease the pain as it were.No because that's not what our organisation does and it would mean the end of playing for the crest. Those same players though can have successful careers as Nurses, teachers, pundits etc. There's an outlet for everyone's talent and if that be far afield so be it. Would you want them to be prohibited from travelling to earn good money just because they happen to be good for our county prospects?
Ah yeah, I see where you're coming from and would have sympathy with your view, but don't necessarily agree with the "poaching" bit. Yes I do understand why you say it and I've said it before, so I'm contradicting myself, but if they made a career in Rugby, Soccer, Golf or Snooker even, would that still be poaching? I enjoyed my time as a player with the club, but found my success in motorsport when I was invited into a team. I got my career in media as a result of my contacts there. I was offered a place playing soccer, locally I add so the money wasn't going to be life changing, and that was when I was playing for my club. I never considered it being poached.I think if everyone is honest they’d be thinking isn’t that great for the lad and then equally thinking “feck sake, another good player gone from the Armagh Squad”.
