I see on Hoganstand Facebook - sorry @PatMustard I know this means a 30 mile trip to your neighbour to borrow their clockwork and wind up tablet of stone to read the news - that they have a post about Ulster being the only province to have all SFC games shown on the tele box, even if most are deferred. Some muppet (as is usual in these things) goes on about how the Hurling this and hurling that in other provinces should be............... Yep that may be true, but and I hate defending HS and love slagging them off, the post was about SFC not SHC.

Someone else goes on to comment about the "puke football on the BBC." Now to be fair I agree, there's far too much soccer on BBC but I think the Ulster championship is the best in Ireland. Not saying it has the best standard, but it's the most competitive. For example, I'm getting all excited about which one of the one teams will win in Leinster, Dublin or maybe Dublin, Same in Munster although I think it's a toss between Kerry and Kerry. Connacht is different with maybe Galway or Mayo in with a chance. At least in Ulster it could be "them'uns", Donegal, Monaghan or Armagh. Cavan, Derry or Down "could" create an upset. Fermanagh had their chance last year and blew it in style and as for Antrim..............
all the Ulster games aren't live on the BBC,Mongahan,Donegal & Tyrone are the only teams that have a chance of winning Ulster the year again & it's been like that since 2008 when armagh last won it,there hasn't been a good Ulster final in years, the puke football bit on the auld Facebook who would have said that now

Nah it didn't say they were all live, just that they were all being shown, which is correct I suppose, because those that aren't live are deferred.

I'll see if I can find it again and see who said it was puke football. Can't remember at the minute - might have been someone called Spillitall!

Funnily enough @Calm1 i didn’t see that Hogan stand article.

I do agree, Ulster is the most competitive, along with Munster hurling. While maybe not as exciting as it was in its heyday back in the 40’s.

One thing I’d change though. If a match is deferred, why not just show the highlights later that night? Just like they did when ‘Mr GAA’ himself, Jackie Fullerton, hosted ‘The Championship’.

I mean, I try to avoid the result of some matches so I can watch deferred. But it can be a struggle sometimes. Especially if it’s a cricket score. A condensed highlights package would be enough.

So, come on BBC, do what you do best - show less GAA.
Yeah I agree Pat. Highlights or extended highlights are better than the whole deferred game. It's almost impossible to avoid the scores with FB, Twitter, Ceefax and all that :p

That guy Ciarán Ó Duiffinn gets everyone to rise to him everytime. Just why??

Down near the bottom is the puke football comment. I just think it's funny that it still keeps coming up even after prat spillall - Okay that's not fair as I actually like the guy, Pat Spillane has conceded that he was wrong!! Sure there's always one. At least it amuses me.

Jaysus, that’s a rather pessimistic post from you for a change

Grimley gets its cast off on Wednesday. In his own words ‘it will be tight’ in regards to making the starting 15. I think he will be on the bench. Morgan for Burns. Forker will be in the half back line instead of Mackin. Probably Sheridan in midfield and Rafferty in the half forwards.

What about Charlie, Ryan Kennedy (superb v Donegal), Joe Mc Elroy, Greg McCabe ( excellent league ) and so on
Picking a 26 might be difficult, picking a starting 15 with so many options how would you be right?
One thing is no matter which 15 starts it'll never be right
Perhaps the modern game requires a starting 15 and a finishing 15 ?

I agree with you. I was giving what I think mcgeeneys team will be. McCabe was excellent and there is strong argument to include him. Maybe in place if shields? The players you named would be hard done by if left out alright. I’m glad I’m not the one naming the team

The only thing everyone can agree on is that we can’t agree with the best team, such is the depth of this squad. Personally I’d go for

Hughes
Morgan
McKay
Hughes
Forker
Donaghy
McCabe
Sheridan
Grimley (if fit)
Hall
Rian O’Neill
Grugan
Clarke
Rafferty
Campbell

Any word on Oisin O’Neill’s fitness? Think he starts if fit.
