With the first game of Ulster fast approaching it’ll be interesting to see the expectations of the fanbase after a disappointing league campaign resulting in relegation. With most commentators suggesting we’re on the easy side of the draw avoiding holders Derry and 2nd favourites Tyrone can we build momentum and go on a run?

This is the first time I’ve properly looked at the draw.

If we beat Antrim, where do we play Cavan?

My minimum expectation looking at the draw and the panel we have would be to reach the final.

I accept our league form hasn't been great. But I still feel we should be looking at beating both Antrim and Cavan.

From there Donegal and Down would both appear highly beatable.

Getting to the final would be a great occasion and a goof day out. A final against either Tyrone Derry ot Monaghan on the day could go either way but come then would expect to see Armagh competing

Strange one this season. At the beginning of the year I was off the opinion that the Ulster championship was merely to be played out to get out of the way given the new format for the all Ireland. Now I think we are safer in it and going deep in it. Semi finals of Ulster are last week week in April and the final is on 14th May. The round robin all Ireland doesn't begin until June. So having a competitive fixture mid May would really suit so as not to go in cold. The way the round robin are structured, the first game in the all Ireland group will be against a Div 1 standard team or Dublin if we are in their group.
