Some win for clann eireann doing the county well, will be a good semi that and theyll fancy their chances to reach a final.
Now i know it was a shock that cruppen won armagh intermediate but by god the standard of armagh intermediate must be so poor after the tanking they took saturday.

A young side, Happy enough with their county title, dont think they had much aspiration of an ulster title.
good luck to them next year in 1b a big step up for them.
Young woods was asked on to the county after the county final

It is poor, Sarsfields arguably the best team (on paper anyway) should have had it in the bag. CE/DG game will be a clinker.

Well done to Clann Eireann, Derrygonnelly probably another step up and will be more experienced at this level, won’t be able to afford giving them a big lead. Definitely every chance to beat them though and would be some achievement for them to reach an Ulster final.

6 points hardly a tanking for Cruppen, seemed to be 3 in it all along until the late goals. Very young team that will only improve.

Agreed though the standard in Armagh at intermediate isn’t great, bar probably the top 4 or 5 most of our senior teams would be of a similar standard to other counties intermediate.

No offence to you but I would rather they did not settle for the county championship. Great achievement of course but this team has a few classy players and beat a more experienced team despite being missing for the first half. I am biased here being an Armagh fan but I have no ties with Clann Eireann (that I am aware of at least) but this team is something special. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for this club and an Ulster title could be on the cards and a possible appearance in the AI series. Turbo is a phenomenal talent and Kelly is making a name for himself.

I think he was talking about Cruppen?

On Clann Eireann, Derrygonnelly will be tough for them but definitely a winnable game. If they were to get to an Ulster final Kicoo or Glen would be another huge step up from anything they’ll have faced. Would be great to see them getting there though and hopefully beyond.

I’d be surprised if this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those lads though as theres no reason they can’t win a good few more Armagh championships in the next 10-15 years!

Apologies @Bro

They are capable of winning more Armagh championships but they should press on from here and develop the "we cant be beaten" mentality Cross did in the 90's. Perhaps that is the goal for most teams but the difference here is Clann Eireann certainly have the talent.

Yeah, but talent never kicked the ball over the bar. No, wait, that’s dumbbells.

Anyway, my point is, talent alone sometimes isn’t enough to win you championships.

Definitely not @PatMustard I always talk about the benefits of having the right mentality in GAA especially with Armagh - that is the test for Clann Eireann now - can they step up mentally and have that team bond to press on. It would be phenomenal to see such a young team achieve the right mentality and team bond so early in their senior careers. It would set them up for years of success.

Predictable first round exits for our Junior and Intermediate champs. The county just doesn’t compete at these grades.

Maybe nothing to be too bothered about, though. There’s no real effort at standardisation of the intermediate and junior grades across county borders. Without that, these competitions should be seen more as novelties than anything to be taken too seriously.

However, the senior championship is different. There’s no stacking the deck at this grade. The best playing the best. And it’s good to see the best of Armagh continue to compete well in the competition.

You’d fear that Derrygonnelly might have a bit too much winter football experience in the next round, but this CE team have goals in them - and goals can be huge in low scoring December slugfests. Would love to see them make the final.

Derrygonnelly will be favourites but Clann Eireann have nothing to fear. I think they'll need a good dry day and a sound surface to come through, on a rubbish day on a bog of a pitch DG would have too much physicality, experience and know how for them. It's likely going to he Clones or Omagh I'd imagine? Clones definitely preferable than the Tyrone quagmire.

Dromore v Gerrydonnelly was in Carrickmore, and Moortown’s match was there too. And there’s a JHC match taking place in Carrickmore as well. No sign of Omagh being used so far, as far as I can see.
