Could you see it from the Flagstaff Viewpoint?
Aye Patrick, but the GoGo dancers in number 26 would probably distract you...............I meant the mud wrestlers in 85...............no no, the topless budgies...............Oh never mind. There's far too much happening in Newry to bother with football or any sport for that matter. I mean as far as I'm told of course.

OTB podcast pointing out games are going to be dictated by goalkeepers this weekend and that Blaine Hughes is a weak link ....if there's ever motivation to go out and prove someone wrong
He’s had his faults and received fair criticism from plenty in the past but has been exceptional lately. Backing him to have a stormer on Saturday.

Can only see Beggan making an impact if called into action as a long range free taker. Critical our defence is disciplined-I suspect they will play with a strategy to exploit any loose tackling. We have more options and threats up front. If we can keep it tidy at the back, we will be OK

Ok, hands up if you've been lucky enough to get a ticket for Saturday - let's see the support and hear those that can't make it

Any work on Forker? He would be a huge boost. If he plays he will mark McManus I'd imagine if he doesn't I don't know who would be fit for him.

He has become so good so quickly. I was critical of his communication to the defence now he is roaring instructions at them, players are making themselves available, he is gesturing to players where he is kicking the ball (needs to mix this up though, BBC commentators caught on to this, throw in a few middle fingers if you have to!), dictating the speed of our attack and helping out the defence. If he starts getting these things right consistently and is able to weigh up the percentages on attack options he is going to be one hell of a goalkeeper for us.

I would have once concern about him though and that is when opposition get a chance to score. I wouldn't be confident of him in those situations. He did make a great save against Antrim I don't know what he is like when a forward is on at goal. There is one fault I have noticed in the past but I'm not going to share it on a public forum with possible Monaghan fans popping in  If this was a game of chess then Blaine is our Queen (sorry Blaine) and he needs to be protected at all times.

We need to avoid yellow cards as they will limit how tight our defence can be. I suspect we will stand off Monaghan in the first half and then start putting the squeeze on them in the second half at which point anyone who gets a yellow can be replaced. This is not a game for Brendan Donaghy, he was turned for an easy point against Antrim and I still have that fear if we play him in a big game we will concede a goal. However, it depends on if we need experience at a certain point of the game or if we are carrying numerous injuries late on.

When we regulate our energy and play along with a bit of patience rather than looking like a team on LSD it is so much more fun watching Armagh play. I get that the team is young and they like these high risk (long ball)-high reward (goal) passes but you rarely see the big teams do it. I would much rather play the attacking pass that is low-risk (pass into a kicking position)/low-reward (a point) and build up a score. Those long balls against Antrim cost us four points, in hindsight it didn't matter but in a game against Monaghan it will have consequences. We are inevitably going to go through the gears and build up steam but lets get the confidence build up, get a few score in the game, no 5-10 minutes patches where we have no scores and then give them a bit of Armagh on LSD if it is tight.

Not really going to go into how Monaghan play. I suspect they will want early goals to build momentum on. Armagh might need a few minutes to settle the defence and get into a rhythm so I anticipate long balls and high-risk play from Monaghan very early on. If this doesn't work for them Armagh could go up the other end of the pitch a put a few points on them.

Did Murnin start against Antrim? Don't think I heard his name mentioned once in that game. Murnin would be an option in the latter stages of a game as would McQuillan. Monaghan's defence does look a little suspect and some of their fans have concerns about it. McQuillan will run at Monaghan with speed and when they are tired they will inevitably foul him. Whereas Murnin just doesn't stop running.

I hate naming defence, this is the biggest pain in the ar*e area to pick for me. Playing all our best options and experienced players at the same time would be ideal but we don't know what is going to happen in the game with yellows and injuries. If Kennedy is fit I would take Finn off, don't think he had a great game against Antrim. McCabe was fouling too much against Antrim, can't imagine what he will be like against Monaghan. Starting with Forker would be the better option rather than Morgan at least management have a back up plan if that were to happen and swap Forker with Campbell - definitely not like for like but puts off the use of subs temporarily.
