I can't be 100% sure, but I was always under the impression that these games being national competitions and not local were fixed centrally by Croke Park etc and not county boards. The ladies game has been great the last few years and these athletes deserve to play in front of decent attendances.
I'd imagine the ladies organisation and the GAA (as we know it) more than likely couldn't agree on a split of the gate. A lot of things like this come down to the finances sadly. It's difficult to argue against this too when the average attendance at one game is maybe several hundred and the other several thousand (not saying those are the figures, but based on the few ladies games I went to it'd be a guess)

Just been told it was Geezer that wanted the ladies to play AFTER the men. They're getting worse now, knowing that the women play a more entertaining game. Can't wait to see him throw a tantrum when we get double header in the qualifiers and we're on second!

With the ladies playing first, maybe McGeeney is worried they will use up all the hot water.

It was HQ who organised the double headers, but apparently McGeeney threw his toys out and said it wasn’t happening. You just have to look what our ladies chairpersons Facebook page and see how she and a lot of other people feel about it. So if anyone wants to make a day off it the ladies game is in silverbridge @12pm.

McGeeney is absolutely right!! After the ludicrous situation of the McKenna cup, injuries and depleted squad it would be nonsensical to play two games in one afternoon! This would surly increase the possibility of injuries not to meantion reduce the possibility of actually playing good football! Correct decision end of!!!

McGeeney shouldn’t have a say in the matter, unfortunately our CB don’t have a back bone and it seems whatever McGeeney says goes. “Actually playing good football” ha it’s been a while since I seen them playing good football.
