They have a long way to go to be even in the debate. They will never win any awards for style or grace though.
Why not ? They just won a ulster final by a cricket score and have won it now back to back? Drew to the best club team ever in the all Ireland final before getting beat in extra time.
Bit harsh there

Kilcoo are a brilliant side but best team to grace Ulster? not quite but might not be far off... This team has been on the go 10+ years and while they’ve been able to replenish their panel with some excellent talent but the reality is they’ve just won their second Ulster title. Not like they’ve a minefield of a championship to get them out of down either. Compare that to cross 1996-99 or 2004-2016

The toughest battles kilcoo had over the years have been in the down championship. Carryduff took them to extra time this year. A last minute goal won them a semi final vs burren in 2019. Where as cross never really had any one coming close to them, a few average dromintees and cullyhanna sides easily beaten through the years. Kilcoos backs can play a lot better football than cross could and are equally as tough and menacing. And forwards from both sides where handy but when the Johnson’s get the ball they are unstoppable. Clarke cumiskeys kernans could drop in and out of games. I believed cross was the best club team I ever watched. Then came corofin and now we have kilcoo - not quite corofin level yet but well on their way.

As efficient as Kilcoo are, I just don’t think they have a real natural forward, that will keep kicking points even when he or the team aren’t playing well.

Their scores come from a lot of hard work and intricate passing. But they don’t really have the long ball game that Cross was very effective at, and was hard to stop. You need to be able to mix it up, play different styles. I just can’t see Kilcoo doing enough on the score board to win an AI
I think they’ll win an All Ireland now for sure. Their conditioning and ability to stick to a game plan is better than most county teams.

Can’t see any of the remaining teams touching them.

They only scrapped through a good few of their games in Down this year as far as I remember.

Cross teams at their best would blow them off the field though and thats no slight on Kilcoo, rate them very highly.

From memory Cross and Clan na Gael won at least 3 Ulster's in a row. Ballinderry and Burren have won a fair few too. Slaughtneil won 3 in 4 years recently. St Galls have won an All Ireland. They are all just off the top of my head. As I said Kilcoo have a long way to go.

Kilcoo aren’t even the best Down team to have won an Ulster! They are good and all but the Burren team of the later 80’s would have beaten them. I would be confident that any of our AI teams would have beaten them with a bit to spare. I’m not saying they are not a good team but they’re just about getting into the conversation.

Did Cross not do 3 in a row maybe twice and even gave Kilcoo a lesson a few years ago. This current Kilcoo team are really good, no doubt about that, but if your opposition only scores 3 times with their only score of the second half an injury time free, then you have to question how good the winners actually were only actually scoring 13 times. If they'd have won 3-25 to 0-03, now that would have been a statement. From what I'm told and yes this was second hand, the game was extremely boring with both teams spending lots of time inside their respective 65m line.

I could also be wrong about this, but could their current success be down to a really good manager? I seen a quote earlier that he won 5 of the last 7 ulster titles. 3 with Slaughtneil and 2 with Kilcoo. I'm also told the lad Brannigan (No. 20) was fantastic with almost all play going through him in the first half. Who got MOTM? Was it him or was I told porkies??

I'm fairly sure Scotstown won 3 in a row and maybe some more, Burren are next to Cross in honours, but no idea of the number - maybe half of whatever the Cross total is.

Who won it in 09? In between Cross's two trebles?

Also - Kilcoo are good, but not near the level or achievements of Cross in their heyday
