What a horrible game.

Monaghan is a truly horrible team to watch, they are like Fermanagh but had threatening players. They have a much older team and want to conserve energy as much as possible hence the constant passing. McCarron is a blatant cheat and referees will have his number in the future.

Grinding out a draw in the league in horrible condition with such a lackluster display perhaps says a lot about this Armagh team than we think. We gifted Monaghan a lot of opportunities so it was another one of those games if we lost, it would have been out fault.

Was the penalty over the line and spun back? I think so.
However, overall a poor showing and we butchered 3 or 4 goal chances. Against 14 men for a long time bur many individual errors and scrappy play.

Caught out for going with no midfielders today
Monaghan had 2 weeks to prepare and we took too long to work it out would be a worry come championship

Happy with a point. Banty will have seen how we struggled on our kick outs in the second half of the two previous games when the opposition pushed up. Haven't got a really outstanding high fielder.

I haven’t been as angry watching Armagh in a while. I know the conditions were absolutely shocking and it’s easy sitting watching it, saying what players should be doing. But we never got going in the game. Our attitude was all wrong and for us to do well, like we’ve done so far, we have to be fully tuned in. Some of the basic errors we made can’t be dismissed as just the weather. This is the kind of reminder we need to keep our feet on the ground.

Some players did not play well and it’s good that we have a big squad because players should be dropped for the next game - Sheridan, Nugent and Hall are a few that spring to mind.

Id be inclined to stick with Nugent. Agree on Sheridan and Hall. Whilst neither will be happy with their performance I feeo they will know they could have played better.

I was angry but more relieved now. I don't want to be too critical about the team but at the same time, it was tragic to watch. Basic errors in passing cost us points, poor decision-making along with Monaghan physically imposing themselves on us. The conditions and quality of the game suited Monaghan down to the ground. If there is an ugly game to be played Monaghan is not the team you want to go up against. Monaghan is brimming with Ciaran McKeever-esque players, the likes of Beggan and Hughes where you hate playing against them but want them on your team.

It was probably the bump back down to earth we needed after those first two games and it can be positive to know we can grind out a win/draw when needed in the conditions the game was played in. The mistakes that were made were unforgivable, our composure just went right out the window. Our kick-out strategy has been nullified which has been a big advantage in the last two games. I get the impression Blaine needs instructions rather than work things out himself or perhaps he knows what to do but is unsure of himself. I am not going to have a go at him, he certainly made some wayward passes but ultimately he has kept another clean sheet. he is going to get caught off his line one day.

Old problems are coming through and they definitely need to be addressed. There is a cause for concern from me at least regarding how well our defense has progressed especially with old problems coming through. That result would have been different had McManus stayed on the field which also concerns me.

Played crap, still got a draw. I’ll take that. A lot of hysterics on here (as usual) any time Armagh have an off-day. Monaghan was always going to be a massive challenge and they brought a lot of physicality which suited the conditions on the night. They’ll rue missed opportunities early on which probably would have counted in the end. Armagh are still unbeaten in the league but a lot to improve on and perhaps time for some squad rotation, few players could do with a break and Turbitt needs to start IMO

As I expected - a much tougher game tonight. Disappointing not to have won in the end being in front, a man up and playing down the field but we didn't even deserve a point to be honest. Players waiting on balls etc all the hall marks of a team believing its own hype! A good lesson tonight, point in the bag and onwards to a shot at the mighty Mayo.
