Size around the middle is 100% an issue. We have tall players, but not particularly filled out. But it's not just about size. Look at Mayo and they've been struggling lately. Matthew Ruane, Jordan Flynn, Fionn McDonagh, Aidan O'Shea are all massive and operate around the middle, but they're not particularly great fielders. Bryan Fenton isn't a tank, but is great at fielding. David Moran was unreal under the high ball, but not that mobile. So it's a tricky balance. It makes the absence of Oisin O'Neill more keenly felt, when you don't have someone that big and filled out in the middle who can just use sheer brute force to win or at least break a ball. It makes our kick out strategy even more crucial and not just resorting to going long every time.

I think we are being a bit harsh on MF lads. Creally is just back and McParland is in his 1st year. I thought we were excellent 1st half, really great ball into the forwards particularly to Turbitt, his runs are really intelligent and his striking is a Joy to watch. I thought Rafferty was excellent, particularly under high ball. There was a lot of cynical and late fouling and blocks, he needs more protection. Game was over at half time, we took our foot off the pedal and ran the bench. Good win in terrible conditions, gr8 chance of Ulster final. I think we are timing things just right, getting better and fitter with every game. Well done to the team

Has Michael Murphy just given the Armagh team speech for next week? Nearly certain I heard him say Donegal won't fear Armagh next Sunday. Arrogance personified.

It’s just possible you might have overreacted.

A straightforwardly dull bit of punditry in line with a dull enough game. Great goal by Kerr though

The pick of both them teams will not beat Armagh.
Neither of them defences will hold Armaghs forward line

Apparently there is a massive queue outside Timoney’s ice cream shop, all wearing Down and Donegal jerseys. At least the fans will experience some joy today.

Teams will already be hoping to be in Donegal’s group.

A lot of talk about whether we want to make the final or not (I’m clear that we do). It’s very clear that it’s all or nothing for Down. But Donegal were desperate there. Down were poor in Divison 3 and we have seen what Fermanagh and Cavan have to offer. We need to go at their FB line
