Hurling is a very fast game, always has been always will be.
They dont apply a lot of the rules and the fact you can strike a ball 70-90mtrs with relative ease

Football is a much slower game and won't change.
It's always going to be more tactical
It's a much better game now than it was 10,20,30 years ago thankfully
Those who harp on about the games of days gone by are just delusional.

Is the game there for entertainment (for which there are no additional points given) or for winning?
I disagree that the game is much better now than 10/20/30 years ago.
Certain aspects- yes, but not the same excitement or the individual battles.

I was never bored watching games years ago, but many games now are boring and a hard watch.

Disagree massively.

No it isn't, my Dad attends the matches with me & will be turning 84 later this year as a Season ticket holder since 2015 I don't think he should have to sit out in the rain. Oh & the word is "surely", not "surly".
If I remember right from the qualifier match we played there, I think the ground has a covered stand, prob seats a few thousand. If you are able to get there early enough hopefully your dad could get a seat in the covered area. There is also a carpark at the entrance, if you are unable to park there they may permit you to drop your dad off, which would save walking any distance. Great result last visit to Leitrim, let's hope we get 8 goals this time as well!

Thank you for your post :) We will be leaving early on Sunday & definitely hoping to get a seat in the covered stand as yes your recollection is spot on as we sat there for the match against Leitrim.
However I still think it's shameful that the GAA are holding this match at this county ground. I do think some may vote with their feet on this occasion & not attend whereas if it had been held elsewhere they could have expected another very large Armagh turnout.

Wee tip for you.

Went to one of the International Rules games years ago. Long story short, we were absolutely soaked, even before the match started. So, you can imagine sitting soaked to the skin for 2 hours, then drive 2 hours home still soaked. Needless to say, days were missed at school that week.

If we’re heading down the country now for a match, I throw a change of clothes in the boot. Not so bad if the match is near home, but if you’re having to drive home two or three hours and you’re soaked, a fresh change of clothes is a godsend. Even shorts and a t-shirt would do, and won’t take up much space.

You’ll thank me later.

I'm guessing that was Breffni Park. Land of the eternal rain.
Miserable, miserable place. I've never gone there and not returned fecking soaked to the skin
Only two possible weather forecasts for that area: 'Fecking Dreary' or 'Even More Fecking Dreary than Usual'
Carrick on Shannon is supposed to be nice spot though. Suspect it may be far enough removed from the permnacloud that has been parked over Cavan for the last zillion years

No, it was Croke Park actually.

Carrick on Shannon is a nice spot. Might be better arriving by boat though, as the roads aren’t great.

Ok so now I'm concerned that my Dad has been posting as @PatMustard all along on here & never told me  as the spare set of clothes thing, this is exactly what he does & has got mercilessly ribbed for it on many an occasion :D

I see to recall a great wetting in Longford at one stage, and another at Hyde Park in 2003, places not far from Carrick-on-Shannon.

Yes @Ard Mhacha 13 [deep voice] I am your father :D

Wise man, so he is. Those doing the ribbing need a good soaking some day, while your dad can sit up dry as a bone while proclaiming “who’s the eejit now?” ;)

Great tip young patrick. Now I've been watching the local sheep shear the pitch for the last week or so having got here a tad early. These kids on the electric scooters are some craic altogether and they...........oh aye. Sidetracked again. So still plenty of spaces available here even with that major minor thing here over the days between the two weeks. Now what was the point..........??

Hi Ard Mhacha
Do the GAA do special reserved seats of those less able? Is this a thing?? Have you tried getting ion contact with anyone in the Leitrim county board in relation to this? Just a suggestion but could be worth a shot

Not sure but it is something I will look in to, many thanks :)

Question. I hear ye have 5k season ticket holders. We have 2.3k gaa season ticket holders. I presume ye must have a separate club Armagh scheme in addition to the gaa scheme. I understood as of last season the only counties who had maxed out the 3.5k gaa season ticket threshold was Dublin and our noisy neighbours.
