Qualifiers 2018

A match where for 80 percent of the time the play was brutal... we win the last 6 kickouts and score 1-5.

An amazing victory.... a mesmeric last 5 minutes but by god it was shocking before that. I thought grugan was dreadful, missed frees, kicking the ball away, missed balls over the top, hopped ball for not hitting it quickly enough. Grimley the same- missed frees was soul destroying. Last 5 minutes the two lads stepped up and made up for their mistakes and saw armagh over the line- fair play.

Charlie is some leader round the middle. The man hits hard- a lot of disposessions, high catches, draws fouls, kicked a point- great game. Thought McCabe in the corner did some wonderful things in the game- the full back line got it tough though. Hughes kickouts for once were v poor. Missed his man several times. He will be better next day. Mcshane carries the ball well with little end product today.

Clare must be gobsmacked. It was some atmosphere at the end- the kids were going wild, grown men going wild- fair play lads!! Another day out for the orchard!!

Anyone who left after Clare got the penalty must be sick, what a come back from the lads. Can’t remember the last time I heard the chant go on for as long as it did. The AG’s was shaking it really lifted the lads.
Maybe next time out we should start chanting like at start of the game instead of waiting to round the 50 min mark, was spine tingling stuff all the same.

Hall has been a revelation this year for the dirty ball winning and run tracking. I had him dead and buried as an armagh County player but hes risen from the dead. Absolute class act and quickly becoming a cult hero alongside Paddy Burns.
hes only played 3 games & you come out with comments like that

On another note I taught the attendance was pretty poor today especially with the good weather.
Given that the football Feile is on, holiday time, people working, the weather itself where it may have been too hot to bring some people I thought it was a decent looking crowd.
Certainly plenty of noise at times.
Unfortunately the bandwagon support will land the next day but thats the way it goes

Whilst there were aspects of the performance yesterday that were concerning, I wonder how much emphasis was placed in preparation on managing the conditions to preserve energy to provide the opportunity for a big finish. At the same time, if our final pass on occasions had been more effective, we could have had a very handsome goal tally in this game and basked in the sun in those incredible closing minutes. I think this dosplay demonstrates learning from past incidents where we have not played the conditions well. The draw in an hours time will be important as to our future direction in the competition and it's great to be looking ahead to a game which can secure super 8 status this season. The supporters are fantastic but next weekend the iconic shouts of Armagh, Armagh will be required from the outset to give our boys an edge, inches were the difference ultimately yesterday and the orchard faithful can prove to be the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth man (and woman) next time out!

I Agree with that. Last year we played Fermanagh in qualifiers in AG and the attendance was 10 thousand. 5 and a half was very very poor for the stage of the competition and the weather. Armagh have an amazing core support support who go to every game but it looks like the amount who will pick up the games as things improve has almost totally dropped off. A very worrying trend.

So I had been up early, got ready for work, checked I had enough power on my phone to see RTE News Now to catch the draw, posted on orchardfans.com, lunch made, workbag in boot, noticed how little traffic was about, checked the date, only to find it was Sunday, not Monday! So my ramblings about the draw being in an hour were a day out, feel like I have been using Calm1's De Lorean! Isn't it amazing what an Armagh comeback can do to you, or was it the sun?????

Maybe something to do with the £18 entrance fee into a qualifier game wouldn’t have helped.

I think the fee is set by croke park
Another factor could be that for some reason there is a anti-geezer brigade who seem to always want others but won't say who. This has to stop.
The team that finished today had three u20s, a lot under the age of 27 and a few 30+
Five alleged first team players didnt make themselves available this year and the media jumped all over this at every opportunity
Then two first team players picked up long term injuries
I think its been a superb year getting out of division three and where we are now.
Yes Fermanagh was disappointing (monaghan didnt fair any better and Donegal learned from those two games) but the team is racking up scores and today the kicking game, at the end, won the game.
The sideline seems more in control since the maor foirne got his marching orders against Fermanagh - the players seem to be content and we as supporters should support

The attendance in sligo was 3500 or so mostly Armagh ones.

I think it is important that we consider that yesterday we played a side that has consolidayed it's place in Division 2 this year, imo the best team we have played competitively this season and we are dissapointed that we only beat them by four points. In itself, such a result is important to consider for the young developing team we have. If we can get everyone to pull together for the orange geansai over the next number of years we may have a very talented squad with lots of potential.

Maybe ticket prices are a factor, v expensive for some families now to go, £18 was too much 15 would have been more than enough. Attendances are down throughout ulster this year, own goal by GAA methinks. Also it was criminal that the Mayo Kildare match wasn’t on terrestrial tv last night, that sky deal should not be renewed
