National Football League 2024

Aside from the fact we've the Cork game next week to come, that's as convincing a league campaign as you could ask for.

You could obviously argue that D2 is a fair level below D1 but in reality, to have the momentum of winning to carry through to Ulster is much better than the disappointment of a few very tight defeats like last year.

We were miles ahead today. Cavan couldn't get a kickout away for love nor money. We dominated the middle, had a wide array of scorers and crucially, conceded no goals. The scoreline flattered Cavan if anything after they kicked a few from distance, aided by a strong wind when there were 15 or so to go.

Without doing a full assessment before next week, Greg McCabe, Blaine, Paddy Burns, Grugan, Turbitt and Conaty have been the standouts for me in the campaign so far. Murnin has also been superb and plenty of others. McGrane looks a real find too.

Plenty to be positive about and can look forward to a nice Easter Sunday in HQ now.

Don't know why they didn't press our kickouts in the 1st half as the panic in the 2nd when they did was clear.

The Mrs is already giving out I'm driving down to Cork and back next weekend so better hope she doesn't know its a dead rubber

Think Conaty and McGrane have been great finds this year along with Mackin and mccambridge last year and tiernan Kelly the year before, these 1 or 2 a year keeps things fresh and hopefully that can continue

We had the wind in the first half, pressing kickouts risked a long kickout to Murnin who would then be in open country.

Armagh's defence has improved, tackling is better and the flapping of hands leading to a foul is now uncommon, while interceptions are more common. There seems to have been a project to do this, and given that we have the lowest score against in the league it has worked. This should offer a good platform, Murnin, Conaty etc can get scores at the other end.
