National Football League 2024

With the new Football League season only days away (yes I know, but c'mon, time flies when you're having fun) time to start the crap that goes around talking about the league.

As far as I remember the teams are:
Armagh
Cavan
Cork
Donegal
Fermanagh (Yeah)
Kildare
Louth
Meath

Never mind the "the stadium there is crap" talk, who would we like to be away to and who would be nice to see in Armagh?

For me, I'd like to be away to Fermanagh, Louth and Meath and then home to Cavan, Cork, Donegal and Kildare. I'm basing it on the cost of travel.

There are rumblings in the deep mountain passes of Donegal. The dark lord has emerged from many years in the wilderness and whispers of his return have taken flight.

If he can prise Croke Park’s Jack Cooney away from Westmeath, he’ll have a formidable team. Serious bucks needed and scouts like wee Martin have already had missions to New York and Boston to sow the seeds.

Let’s see what materialises and whether the ring of power is wielded once more:

I'd say we will have 4 home games next season. We only had 3 this year. Donegal and Kildare we played at home last time we faced them, so I reckon both will be away next time. As will Cavan as we played them in the athletic grounds last time we faced them in the league. Last time we faced Meath was an away fixture from memory. If logic prevailed then we would be due:

Home - Louth, Fermanagh, Meath,
Away - Donegal, Cavan, Kildare

Toss up, cork, last time we played them was at home, but we would be due 4 home games this season. May get shafted and only get 3. Tough division that as well. Very tough division.

Talk today of Kildare playing fixtures in Croker as double bills with Jackeen games. The last time we were in Croke Pk in the league we did rightly, but now we would be the under bill if it works out that way. Not hard to travel to though.
Newbridge won't be finished until this time next year when they aim to use it for the county final.
