I thought Steven Sheridan was excellent yesterday, I had actually forgotten how good he was. He covered every blade of grass, scored and excellent point and blocked a shot on our 21 yard line. I would be trying to find a place for him in the team some how. I know he was tried at CHB different times and I actually can't remember how well he fared. Midfield is probably his best position but competition there is massive. Maybe Oisin could play in the forwards and allow Steven to move to midfield.
I am a bit concerned about Niall Grimley's form at present. Apart from one excellent catch he was largely very quiet as was the case in the Roscommon game.. As was pointed out previously he is heavily strapped around his left knee so he is obviously carrying some injury. It's strange that he is still picked as we do have plenty of cover. It's either not too serious or Jatly and Steven are not performing well in training.

Overall there were some good performances yesterday however the same problems seem to keep cropping up. James Morgan gave away 2 frees in very scoreable positions which were converted. Both were silly and unnecessary, Jarly Og gave away a completely pointless free which actually culminated in the goal. Likewise Mark Sheilds and Jason Duffy committed fouls that put both of them on yellow cards which then necessitated them to be replaced. These are all simple things to stamp out and I can't understand how boys at this level are doing this.
Regarding the yellow cards, someone pointed out earlier that Geezer was decisive in making these changes. Frankly that's nonsense, a child would know to do that and hardly shows he is quick to make decisions. I was talking about real changes in our style of play or tactics to counter the opposition.
The ref was very sticky on the tackle but in the main he was fair although in the last 10 minutes Clare were getting frees for the slightest contact. On that, the Clare number 7 is a complete disgrace to Gaelic football. He dived all day and also got Rory booked when he went down holding his face when the contact was around the body and was simply a light touch. I hate this crap, it's part of the reason why I don't watch soccer as it is just justified cheating and no-one seems to point it out. It's a scourge and players should be disciplined after games if it is caught.

Great to be over the line and having a crack at Div 1 opposition.

I think some of the criticisms over the past weeks are I’ll founded (and I haven’t read them all).

Kennedy played well yesterday. Didn’t see what his card was for this week. Burns got away with his one bad error and otherwise looked like he is getting back to form.

Some criticism of Hughes is merited but most his way of. He hits his man with a high percentage of kick outs and as a team we have a lack of height at the back. It’s not just one player. My criticism would be the lack of a real long kick out as an option. Certainly look at other options but they must have the goal keeping skills and some history as a keeper.

I have no problem with the performances of either Grimley or Clarke.

I also find I am getting old. Rian’s haircut is bugging me in a way that these things didn’t previously.

watching your own county on tv is rubbish relative to being there but an upside is I don’t have to listen to people swear blind that they were sitting directly in line with whatever grevious sin can be levelled at the opponent. A silver lining of sorts

I have been impressed with young Conor O'Neill, I think he is a real prospect. His kick passing is very good and he has plenty of pace. He will benefit greatly from every game he plays as he is still young. Hopefully he will retain his place as one thing we need is a consistent team. Lads benefit from playing with the same boys regularly. Likewise Ryan Kennedy has been good apart from the silly knees incident. I am worried about James Morgan's propensity to give away frees and I don't think he should start. Aidan Forker is doing well and he has a very difficult job. He plays a different position each game and is always played on the danger man. It's a credit to him that he is doing so well in these circumstances.
Soupy seems to be back to his best and he made a huge difference when he came on yesterday, he is a class act and must strike fear in any defence when he runs at them.
I thought Rory Grugan has also got his form back and he had an excellent game yesterday. He got 3 points from play and his pass in to Cumiskey was absolutely brilliant.
We certainly have the players and with very little improvement we will be able to handle ourselves in division 1. Defensively I think we have the players, it's just the set up we need to rectify. The more game time these boys get together the better they will become. The benefit of playing in the top division will be massive.
I woke this morning and thought I had dreamt we got promoted, what a nice feeling when I realised it was true. It almost made my virtual hangover go away......

Watching the game yesterday, one thing I noticed was that every time two defenders bottled up an attacker it was automatically given as a free . Which I don’t believe was the case in every instance. On another point if the manager pulled a player off yesterday for mouthing off , it’s not before time, absolutely nothing gained by this.

Well done to all on getting promotion- good to look forward to games against the big boys next season. Hopefully we will be able to attend games next year when they are played.
On yesterday's game - like most games - some good , some very good and some other (not so good). Our attack will cause problems for any team but pur defence is a concern. Soft frees given away and a sloppy goal kept Clare in the game - and we let a 7 point lead slip - although we then finished very strongly.
Go to Derry with confidence - but with full concentration and good discipline- we should beat them by 5 or 6 points.

Agree @Diarmi on Stephen Sheridan underrated player , who is overshadowed perhaps unfairly by others as he has a different skill set and comes from a small club , but this lad always gives 100% and lives and breathes to play for Armagh , great attitude and engine and we seem to click better when he plays .

He does seem to have a great attitude and has a bit of pace. To be fair I feel all the players currently on the squad seem to be well focused.

Clarke’s form is a concern. As is Grimley’s

in fairness Shields and Duffys cards were both harsh enough.

4 Ulster teams in the top 8, Croke Park and RTE won’t like that.

Some great games to look forward to in division 1 next year.

To be honest I am delighted that Tyrone and Monaghan stayed up, hopefully both will be coming to the Athletic Grounds in 2021. Away trips to Dublin and Galway would be welcomed.
