2020 league

As no one knows when games will resume it would be safe to say that April as a club month may disappear to allow national league to finish. I'd guess no league finals would be played
Something has to give without fuss
I have a feeling that the league will be abandoned. If so I would assume the league positions at the suspension would stand and hence Armagh will be promoted.

Can't see that to be honest. Potentially if we were to lose the last two games and Clare and Kildare won both of theirs, they could be promoted. Just a scenario and most probably, unlikely, but still possible. If we were in their shoes we'd be screaming for that chance as theirs no provision in the rules for not completing the leagues. Again it could roll over until later in the year. That would mean the two tier system being suspended for a year, but that wouldn't be difficult to organise with a simple motion at a EGM or whatever they'd call it. There'd be no dissent.

I heard on rte a discussion that the league positions from last year would be used as 2 many legal challenges to end 2 game early

Again I'd be surprised (not beyond reality though) if that were the case because it would also leave the GAA open to legal challenge by all teams looking at promotion on the basis of time and money spent getting themselves into a position where promotion to a higher grade for next year was a possibility. Like @niall1980 says the likes of Cork would not take that lying down. I'd be shocked if Roscommon and ourselves didn't get in on a joint action with all other interested parties.

If things calm down, but we don’t finish the NFL before the championship, I’d imagine it might be an autumn finish for the NFL.
And scrap the tiered system based on league standings until next year? Sounds ok other than the fact it will mess up club championships in the Autumn.

Guys I look forward to days in the future when we can travel the country again following our heroes and having great craic doing it. So stay safe in the weeks and months ahead and may you and your family remain healthy. In the interim, let's use the forum as a means to assist each other through difficult days with interesting topics ad fun posts to brighten our days ad evenings. May the road rise with you and the wind be always on your back.

Yes, totally agree. Was just thinking the same.

Luckily we have lots of daft eejits to keep the craic going here, so we’re going to need your silliness, eejitry and juvenile antics more than ever.

Tough times ahead. So let’s help each other through this.

It makes complete sense to cancel all games and training at all levels. It's the type of atmosphere that the virus could spread so easily. The lack of hand washing you see in the toilets at the Athletic Grounds on game day (and any other stadium in any other sport in any part of the world) would make you shudder! I don't think there should be a rush to get the games back up and running, just to fulfill fixtures. People's health and the health of their families is at risk and is far more important than any football match will ever be. If the season is turned upside down, no relegation or promotion from the various divisions and the Championship is re-altered or cancelled so be it. The worst thing they could do is rush back, while people are still sick and spread it again. A friend of mine, who is half Italian, her Grandad past away last night in northern Italy having contracted it. He'd otherwise been a fit, healthy, if eldery, man. That's what we're dealing with here and it's not going to be resolved any time soon, so every precaution should be taken and no rash decisions made just to satisfy sponsors or fans, who want to see games back on before it's absolutely safe to do so.

In purely football terms it's extremely frustrating to have our promotion charge halted. Tonight's game against Roscommon would have been an exciting game, the trip to Clare a good bit of fun and a league final in Croke Park something to savior. Hopefully it will be resolved and we get to finish the season.

Good thinking Mr. M.

Can't wait to see who they are. Do you have a list of performers or is it one of those shows where we punters find out as it goes along?

Rumour going around The leagues maybe void ;)
It's a rumour then because they'd have to reimburse the teams for expenses incurred. All supporters would have to get a refund for attendances and that's just for a start. GAA would be bankrupt overnight.
