2020 season - write off?

It's what's proposed but as the real mouth says, certain minor details to be agreed. Its essentially a "1 round" league but the junior should be longer than 7 games as it was always mooted as 1 round regardless

Said on the draw stream tonight (yes I was that desperate to see something new GAA) that they hope games to begin 31st July with details released next week.

Does anyone think there will be clubs that wont play/field? There are a large amount of regulations to be adhered too, Covid Officer and Covid Supervisors. Serious pressure on these individuals, if something did go wrong. Big pressure on clubs if someone does get the virus, and then a whole squad may have to quarantine. Am 100% the Insurance Scheme wouldn't pay a full squads wages for 2 or 3 weeks. As for underage, I know parents who won't be letting their kids play until next year at the earliest.

I don't see the big pressure
These are all measures that take place at work and the paperwork can be done at home
The sanitising of equipment is done at work as well
Some clubs may struggle to field at certain age groups and I think that's to be expected.
It all looks daunting but when it starts, like all processes, it will work itself out
I would expect the existing processes to be refined at some stage, such processes always do.

I’d be very surprised if most teams that had a realistic chance of silverware would actually report a case in their club if the consequence is derailing the whole season. Can’t see any senior teams not fielding, from the people I talk to this pandemic has only increased players, managers and supporters appetite for football even more.

Even so, people and clubs should do the right thing when it comes to the virus.

When people’s healths or lives are at stake, pursuit of silverware takes a distant second place.

I hope that you are completely wrong with this statement, if not I would find that very worrying & to be honest morally wrong.

I would say that is absolute nonsense

Irish News today, 2 page spread of 32 counties brief breakdown of league & championship proposals.

Only county with no proposed structure - ARMAGH - TBA.

I'm sure I am not the only one constantly frustrated with our county board and their lack of communication with clubs and in general.

The plans have been released to clubs. The communication with clubs I believe is good, but maybe the faces need freshened up every now and again. Not just people moving from post to post. New faces bring new ideas, and hopefully the new employed staff in The Athletic Grounds will do that. Positions in the county board and sub committees are sometimes like musical chairs. Get put out/leave one job and then move to another committee. Why? Maybe it’s easier than looking for the best officers within clubs or maybe these good officers prefer to work for their club.

I've read the same article
18 counties not confirmed anything - speculation
And with the other 14 6 of them not 100% confirmed.
Paper doesn't refuse ink and the author of that report has a bee in his bonnet about Armagh.
So take the neck and wind it in.
I understand clubs have all received proposed fixtures with dates.
Games don't start until August 6 weeks away.
Isn't it great that we are getting onto our pitches again.

Was just made aware of an email sent late last night on fixtures plan. Credit where it is due I think the plan looks good and well constructed. Gives people hope moving into late summer

Interesting the senior gets going first in above proposal. I see that junior is very well catered for as I know some were worried about lack of games at that level.

assume the highlighted orange games at intermediate and senior are for potential league finals and relegation playoffs?

Will there be relegation?

Was thinking the additional fixtures in Senior/Intermediate leagues would be a split into groups of 4 after the final round of league games. Top 4/Bottom 4 playing each other once again to determine final standings like old format.

I can’t see teams having much interest in the league after championship. If a junior team is out of the running for the league before championship I don’t think there will be much appetite to field for 8 league games after the championship at that time of the year. Split junior in to A & B and get it wrapped up before the championship starts
