Absolutely the biggest issue at the moment is a lack of confidence in themselves. Leads to silly mistakes, wides, poor execution etc

Joe Brolly (I know he's narcissistic) thinks they Geezer's shadow hangs heavily over the team, I know the players really respect him , is he such as imposing figure that its hindering our decisions. Just asking the question because I don't know the answer ?

Looking at the groups and believe I am right in thinking that if we beat Galway we will still need Tyrone to drop points against Westmeath in order to top the group

Westmeath by all accounts put it up to Galway for the first 40 minutes or so.

So what I am saying is (and it might be the heat getting to me, @PatMustard any chance of a loan of that factor 70 suncream you keep for July) but we will beat Galway, the midgets will concede last minute goal to lose and we top the group.

From there Sam is in the bag surely.

Depends on how much we would win by. If we beat Galway by a few points, we still come second as they would have better points difference. Although I may be wrong about how that is figured out. We are actually still ahead of Tyrone at the minute based on that
I think Westmeath would need to beat Tyrone by quite a few to end up ahead of them in the final table

if two are on the same points, it goes to head to head. If more than that then it goes by points difference so I think Tyrone would be ahead of us

Group 2 Nothing is decided yet. The only thing we know is Westmeath cannot achieve top spot. The highest Round 3 scorers out of Galway, Tyrone and Armagh will do very well. Galway v Armagh A Galway win or draw will guarantee them a Quarter Final spot. An Armagh win, provided Tyrone don't win, guarantees them a Quarter Final spot. If Armagh and Tyrone both win then Galway, Tyrone and Armagh will all be on 4pts and will be separated by +/-. Westmeath v Tyrone Westmeath need a win to avoid being knocked out - if this happens along with an Armagh loss then Tyrone, Armagh and Westmeath will be ranked on +/-; if Westmeath and Armagh win then Tyrone will be knocked out. If Tyrone and Armagh both win then Galway, Tyrone and Armagh will all be on 4pts and will be separated by +/-. A Tyrone loss and Armagh loss would see Tyrone finish second.

I think I get it.
So, Armagh and Westmeath win...happy, happy days.

Looking at current tables think it likely that Dublin and Kerry may well both finish second along with potentially Derry. Certainly would give us an easier match if we finish 2nd which we will achieve if we beat Galway.

Can't see Westmeath taking anything off Tyrone so can't forsee us topping the group as we are unlikely to have the required scoring difference to better both Tyrone and Galway

Worst case scenario we could put in a brilliant performance against Galway and win and still end up finishing 3rd and getting a qualifier against Kerry

In the event of teams finishing on equal points is the criteria for a higher place as follows:
1) Points difference
2) Points scored
3) Head to head

Is that correct?

Roscommon and Dublin are virtually tied (one extra point's difference in favour of Roscommon).
I think the more likely outcome is that Dublin will wipe Sligo out, they are good at being ruthless against lesser teams and Roscommon will beat Kildare but not by as much and end up second on points difference.

If I was a betting man, I think we will finish 3rd and play away to one of Kerry, Roscommon or Monaghan.

Tyrone have been relatively poor in the last two seasons. Westmeath would have come into this series lacking confidence but they were unlucky to lose to us, they were matching Galway until they went down to 14 men and they might have a crack at Galway.

Armagh have lacked ...well pretty much everything since last year. Galway are going to be a real test but we need to play to our strengths. By all means defend, we need to limit their points but this needs to be managed effectively. Last year in we were probably set-up at 70% attack and 30% defence whilst this year it has been the complete opposite. Change the mentality when needed, if we go at them and open up a lead they NEED to open up their play and attack. Dictate how we play, do not let them dictate how we play. Easier said than done but time to put the big boy pants on and do what we were good at again.

Just reading the group permutations on RTE website. When reading the group about ourselves thought the last paragraph was a bit of unnecessary dig and no relevance to the article

What do mean a ‘loan’ of suncream? It’s not as if I’ll get it back. Chuck some mayonnaise on you. Will do just as well.
