All Ireland series

Draw has worked well for us.

I just had a read through all the comments since Saturday. Long read but overall a good read.

McQuillan made some very poor decisions yesterday for and against both teams. One that hasn't been mentioned that I couldn't believe was Greg McCabe's yellow. Horrendous call.

Pushing up on the kickouts was clearly key and leant itself to the needed improved second half midfield performance.

We are in some position. In all probability we will have a QF we are expected to win. With that comes pressure but at the business end of the championship there is always going to be pressure.

From 20 minutes onwards this was the game of the year from these two teams who gave us that last year.

Having Rian to come back in is huge. He loves the big occasion as we all know e.g in the Ulster final he was superb.

Murnin probably one big performance away from an All Star.

Armagh 2 big performances away from an All-Ireland final. This is wide open. I genuinely don't think Armagh have any fear of anyone - nor should they have.

Delighted for Geezer, the management team. the players and for every Armagh fan in the world.
apart from @gograngego ;)

I wouldn't be putting any pressure on the team, results have worked well for us but we are still a long long way off being capable of getting to an All Ireland Final. Galway was the toughest game we have had this year and in a sense this was a major mental obstacle we have overcome, had that free in the last kick of the game gone over it wouldn't have been a crushing draw but another win we fu**ed up. Nevertheless, it should never had happened when you take into account the amount of time McQuillan added on.

It feels we are going at this with the bare minimum and Armagh in full flight is yet to come. Not going to get my hopes up, we have all been here and been left feeling crushed - never mind what happened in the AI against Galway last year, it has happened a few times this season. We are every bit as good as anyone left but need to show it now.

That was a real lift yesterday. We've waited all year for a big win and we and more importantly the team and all involved deserved it. Sometimes you just get a feeling and even at 2 points down at half time I felt we had it in us to win that game. So kudos to all involved. The sheer relief at the end says it all. Did we do a few things wrong, yes, and that is a good way to come out of a win. Few things still to learn and a 2 week break could be key for this team. So in a good place.

I'd rather not play Donegal. They are getting a few players back at the right time from injuries and I think they will be dangerous enough. I think they will actually beat Tyrone. Either way, it's an all Ireland quarter final. There won't be an easy game to be had. We have to recover from yesterday and prepare well for another difficult game.

I dare say also that the players will want to vanquish the quarter final defeat from last year. It's been a long road this year and we are now at the quarter final stage. The slightly more superstitious element in me hopes we are second match up for our quarter final. We never seem to fair well when we are playing in the first match.

Completely get what you are saying Paul. But maybe that wee bit of luck we needed was that Westmeath equaliser yesterday and not us getting the win. Small things outside our control have now left us with a 2 week break and our potential opponents having to go at it next week again. A week's rest to recover is crucial. We need to be prepared for a huge game in croke park to come, but we needed that bit of luck.

I’ve had my doubts about the management this year more than any other year and while I have been critical I don’t think I have posted in the manner of some posters. However let me say thank you to the management team and players. Yesterday was fantastic and the joy the management showed at the end more than made up for any doubts I had this year.
I've had reservations about such things as decision making during a game-but absolutely, the way management has consistently convinced those guys to rise up and go to the well again after enduring a series of heart breaking punches-magnificent. As I say, reflects well on the character of the squad also.

That win for us will boost confidence and start momentum build at exactly the right time of the season. Luck-we earned it and more. I don't want to be contributing to any build up of pressure on this team following this single win and getting way ahead of ourselves-but the 2002 team had endured some hard luck stories, never really were recognized by the media/pundits at the time, but at last, during that summer began to get the breaks. Convinces a team that these fine margins can go their way with hard work and belief helping to tip the balance

We just have to recover and prepare well. It'll be a tough game no matter who we play. Would love to play someone from outside Ulster. Sick looking at Donegal and Monaghan etc. Would like a rattle at Cork or Mayo. But there will be no easy games.

Ah no-anyone but Monaghan. Grim, grey and dour on an occasion that cries out for colour, excitment and atmosphere.
Stubborn, hard to shake off- as said before, the footballing equivalent of toilet paper that sticks to the bottom of your shoe. You just know they would probably raise their game to incredible heights against us and then get duffed in a semi final
I think it will be the Rossies. We owe them

Looked into it and we are paired with Kerry if we both make it to the semi finals. We are the only non provincial champion to win the group taking Galway's spot. Connaught v Munster and Leinster v Ulster.

As for the quarter final last year they had us playing the same day as Kerry v Mayo which was opposite side of the draw, so I would imagine they will do that again and put us on the same day as the Derry match.

It certainly was recognised with Armagh folk though. Gut-wrenching defeats they were. The Kerry 2000 semi in particular. When I think back......

After being at the game on Sunday and watching the team all summer I really don't understand why Geezer cannot just play Aidan Forker at wing forward.. Going forward this year he's been terrific but he hasn't the pace for corner back when coming up against strong opposition. Feel like Armagh would strengthen with him at wing forward and either a McCambridge, Morgan or Connaire Mackin in defence. Good to see options all over the field and I like Higgins at 3 and McKay at 6.
