Look at it this way.

Out of the forwards that started in the ulster final duffy, gurgan, turbit, murnin there where zero scores from play. Rian kicked a few and mcparlan (who is a forward with his club) didnt score either.

We had one sub that played who didnt touch the ball in open play in 40 mins.
We had two subs that were very good attcking wise when they came in.

I think that 70 % of the management calls work but some didnt is that all on managment i dont believe so. players have to take some responsibility for this also. Once they cross the white line they can kick the ball over the bar, they cant run in and get a free moved up, they cant help if a player dont contribute in a way they taught they might.
Turbo didn't score against Down either.

I see 2 conversations going here and think you can nearly mix them together, a comment saying mcgeeney isn't getting the most out of that squad, I'd say he is the last few years, that squad has a few of the 09 minor team but our you look at our last decent underage team was the 2018 under 20 team I think and we lost to Derry that year and we actually got more players than Derry from that year, mccambridge, Conor O'Neill, crealy, of burns, mcquillan, Rian, turbitt and Duffy all from a team that lost a final, we have got some good players from very poor underage teams like Kelly and mackin but when the 09 guys go we have a drop off from what's coming in the next wave if you go by underage, and yes I understand that a good underage team doesn't mean a good senior team and vise versa, but there is no doubt it helps and also creates a winning mentality, we have been very poor in minor and under 20 level but I'd still hold hope that 4 or so of that 20s team will be very good and seen stpauls win the radafast cup is a step in the right direction for development, I have no idea what are under 16 teams have been like or have they been successful and the coaches are trying there best but no doubt something needs changing at minor level imo,

Players certainly have to take responsibility. Dropping balls short or kicking scorable chances wide are not the fault of management. I thought the line got the tactics spot on against Derry.

Had we won a penalty shootout praise would be widespread.

Murnin was still returning from a knock. He'll be back to 100%. Grugan scored a few. Soupy did too (as you refer to) and I think he'll start the next day. Duffy put a proper shift in. Wouldn't be concerned about scoring or tallies with Jason. He's a link up man. Turbitt was very well marshalled against both Down and Derry.

I thought it was a tremendous effort from all the players. Each and every one of them. Do I think they are overachieving? Definitely not.

But ultimately Kieran will be judged on how far he takes Armagh this summer. There will be an element of luck with the draw and that can make all the difference.

I've full faith in McGeeney. In the league I was critical of Armagh. They stayed competitive in every game but weren't direct. I think that was rectified in the championship and Armagh have been excellent so far.

If Armagh lost to Tyrone and had to go to Killarney it would be a horrible draw. Monaghan or Roscommon the other possible two - winnable in my view.

I think no man is better equipped to take this team as far as they can go. His passion and drive is something the players have bought into.

By all accounts from players I know - his man management and motivational skills are, quite simply, superb.
Very well said, agree 100%

Yeah agree with that, would rather give Murnin another week to be sure he is 100% fit. Should have enougj for Westmeath without him. Morgan needs more miles in the legs and Cian definitely deserves a chance

I certainly think the best 15 footballers in Armagh are on the panel. I don't think anyone gets in ahead of what we have.

Goals: E. Rafferty

At the back: (8)

A. McKay, C. O'Neill (FB or HB), A. Forker, J. Morgan
G. McCabe, C. Mackin (or MF), J Og Burns, R. McQuillan

Midfield: (5)
O. O'Neill, N. Grimley (Albeit both injured ) C. Mackin, B. Crealy, S. Sheridan

Forwards: (7)
R. Grugan, S. Campbell, J. Duffy, J. Hall
R. O'Neill, A. Murnin (Both potential to drift in and out of midfield) , C. Turbitt

I'd be convnced the best 15 in Armagh come from that. Heffernon or Kennedy (who I rate highly) would struggle to get in a first 20 (20 named above).

The FB line in particular is very strong. Just my opinion.
It’s 21 lol
What about mcpartlan and Nugent and there’s a good chance that Mcconville could get game time Saturday and put in a performance that gets him on your squad too

Surprised at the team named with Nugent back. Hasn't done a lot in his sub appearances
