All Ireland series

Not going to comment on the match until tomorrow as I think it best if I reflect on it.

But anybody calling on a change of management is a bit naive. Whether you agree or disagree with the current management it won't change until this season is over.

I accept as fans we are all entitled to express our opinion. But next 2 games Geezer will be manager so no point calling for his head until after that

Once we go out v Kerry in 2 weeks, we could potentially lose Soupy, Forker, Grugan, Morgan and Murnin.

Look at the state of our underage structure. Our minors and u20s are an embarrassment and just like Seniors, it's the 02/jolly ol boys club.

This is our 1 year to go bloody at it, yet we go defensive and putrid.
Is the draw made
When was it decided we play Kerry ?

That was difficult.

Only going to directly name 2 players.

Andrew Murnin. This was a bad day for the team but even on a bad day this man is a joy to watch. Cap dothed.

Conor Turbitt. Turbo knows himself that the missed free was a shocker. He missed one a wee while later from a tight angle. I thought it took real courage to go for that shot. Fair play. Really glad he got his score before he went off.

The malaise was more general. The discipline issue aside any criticism is of team, tactics and managerial decisions rather than any particular player.

I am really struggling to see the justification for our gameplan. I get the selection and the changes in personnel during the game. But the set up.??? What we do on our own and opposition lockouts. Why we have abandoned our kicking game? And we have abandoned it. It's fine to say there is nobody to kick it to but that actually is the proof of its abandonment.

Generally speaking I have no issue with McGeeney not doing interviews but I would like someone to come out with a justification for our game plan. I see opponents creating opportunities and scores when we let them have their own kick out. What stats are we issuing you justify tactics that seem to fly in the face of logic?

Ther is an alternative gameplan. It has worked for this group of players.

And then there is indiscipline. It's an issue across the pitch, not just one incident but bad tackle tech is one thing, getting involved in downside only niggle and agrees is another. Discipline is part of the game. If you want to be good at the game you have to have discipline.

Hot on the heels of Westmeath damp squib we are scrambling around for reasons to be positive. A bit of spirit in the second half. Tyrone were actually terrible. It's now a 2 week turnaround. Time to recover and work on a gameplan that actually works.

Watching the Saturday game, we have quality games all over the country being played in great conditions, hard not to see this as the best structure we’ve ever had without a doubt. Hopefully the whingers will see the benefits now

So is it a moment when we should reflect and realise our actual potential? We've struggled at the top table - is this purely down to management or quality of player/bench?
We have the players to cause the odd upset but not to compete with the top six on a regular basis. New management might be able to squeeze a bit more out if this team but can't see us getting close to an AI possible an Ulster title? At best

We got out of jail last week. We were second best tonight. People can point to a few missed frees and a couple of missed goal chances. Tyrone left as much behind them.

The opposition press every kickout we have, we sit of the majority of the opposition kickouts in a game. Therefore we by default win less primary possession per match. The net result has been obvious all season. Yet still we persist with it. For a management team that believes in possession being king, we sure do cough up a lot of it needlessly with the restarts strategy.

We were 4 points down when we went down to 14 players and even at that stage we didn't look remotely like changing strategy. Had it remained 15 a side I think they would have beaten us out the gate quite comfortably to be honest. I'm calling a spade a spade on that one.

Chasing a game in the second half and it took until the last 10 minutes to press. The substitutions baffled a bit as well. For all the hype on Ross McQuillan, I've yet to see the lad do anything in a Jersey. He isn't ready for county football.

The last play of the game baffled me, why take a point when 3 down. Just no idea what was going on there.

Either way, I said last year, whatever this Armagh team was going to do, it needed to do this year, or soon. It's not a young team, and plenty of our players are the wrong side of 30. This team is likely going to fall into a what could have been category. Can't fault the effort, but the change in tactics to ultra defensive this season is just not suited in any way at all and yet still it's persisted with. It cost us tonight, and it should have cost us last week.

People saying we have the management for the next 2 games as a minimum. I'm going to suggest that Westmeath give Tyrone their full of it next day out. If they topple them and Galway beat us, then we may not even see another 2 games this year.

I'd fear for this Armagh team. It's aging, and the change of tactics hasn't suited. We aren't winning an All Ireland this year, we likely never were. But the drop off has been stark and seriously concerning.

You only think you have things bad because of a football match. We are so popular we have been bombarded today alone with 3264 accounts joining or more accurately attempting to join. Every single one of them originating in Russia. I wish I could say that that's rubbish and it's a distraction from the evening's result and discussions, but sadly it's not. Thankfully we haven't had a breach of any kind, but I believe that the platform has had this internationally. There have been no hacks or intrusions, but it has been fun trying to block each one individually. That now means though that I have broken our commitment to not removing any members. At least we had originally said "genuine members".

Anyway, that aside and because of what we've had to deal with, just a gentle word to the wise;

As a platform provider we log every single email address and every single IP address, even where users have multiple IP addresses. Ok it's more accurate to say the system does this. This is completely inline with all practice across the internet as it does not on it's own identify a person or even a location.

The point is that some of the discussion today is bordering on being insulting and has been reported by numerous members. I'm sorry but I don't have time to deal with all the complaints, so I will once again state our position:

Any member is entitled to post anything legal on any subject within the confines of being a supporter or attendee at Gaelic games related to Armagh and the GAA in general even though we are not affiliated or connected in any way. However if a member oversteps the mark and a legal request is made for details lawfully logged (usually the service provider will also be required to and can provide the same details) we will have no hesitation in complying. If you are man/woman enough to post it, then you are man/women enough to explain that action and defend it. We will not do that for you. Think on.

It's quite possible we have 1 game left folks this year. If we lose to Galway and Westmeath win then it would leave 3 teams on 2 points and be scoring different not head to head. A 4 point defeat at Galway and a 4 point Tyrone loss we are out....

I actually felt happier coming out of Omagh than I did last week against Westmeath
If we had scrambled a draw today it would have been deserved whereas we deserved nothing from the WM game.
For all the negative comments i thought we didn’t play that bad - created lots but just didn’t take our scores - similar to a lot of our other games this year

That red card for Rian was a long time coming. He does that shit putting his knees down on players nearly every game. Normally I would say it was heat of the moment, but not when he’s been guilty of doing it multiple times in the past. Dirty and completely unacceptable
I can’t disagree with this post

Gutless fools??
What are you on about muppet?
Are we not allowed to criticise McGeeney?
Yes, the players put in great effort, no one disputes that. But the way they were set up and told to play - that is down to management.

I am happy to state now - cannot be any clearer - we need a change of management for next season!!!
Agree totally, regardless of whatever this team do in remaining games.

Westmeath were better than us, we shouldn't have won that match. Tyrone are nothing at the moment which makes our loss even more shocking. If we played like last year we would have destroyed Westmeath and Tyrone. We all called out for sorting the defence but I don't think we have done that, we are in a state where we are only papering over the cracks and not dealing with problem. I get the sense that some of the players are not listening to management or management are at a loss.

I do not know what is wrong with Rian O'Neill, he doesn't take his time with frees, his shot taking is erratic. He is our best player but he needs to realise he would be an even better player if he managed himself. F**k it is frustrating watching him knowing how good he is.

and what? calling a spade a spade, lad...
You’re not from Lurgan, so you’re hardly qualified to talk about spades ;)

We’re all disappointed. Probably as much with the performance than the result. But this isn’t Real Madrid or Liverpool, so calling for a managers head in the height of summer isn’t going to change anything. McGeeney is there until the championship is over, whether you, or any of us, like it or not.

We might only have one more game this year. Get behind the lads for whatever remains of our season. Any talk of changes to management can take place when the season has finished....

...lad.
