Alright lads, anyone else from the old forum here yet? What happened with the old forum?

Anyway, what's the thoughts on the upcoming senior final? As a Harps man I'm looking forward to it, I believe if we play to our potential we have a great chance, however Maghery must be favourites in the bookies!

There's been a lot of chatter about the "back door" system in place in the club championships in Armagh. With congress coming up shortly is now the time for clubs to propose it's death warrant is signed are is the county just making too much money to consider it?

It appears that they decided to close it without much or any notice. A few of us have been working on this one for a while as we thought the official one was under pressure going by word coming from club delegates.

Thanks for joining us and don't forget to spread the word

Don't know what the final straw was for old forum but in fairness some of the stuff posted of late on it was scandalous and probably left the admins no options but to close it.

Whilst disappointing that the official site is closed it did appear lately that any dissenting voices or opinions were not tolerated by the powers that be. Hopefully this new forum will provide a place for balanced rational debate and discussion based on facts and well considered opinions as opposed to ridiculous innuendo.

Thanks to the admins for setting up!

Thanks for joining us.

We hope that will be exactly what we offer. All we ask is that the language is moderate and after that anything may be discussed and like you say hopefully sticks to facts although speculation can be good craic. We got disappointed when some thought it was a good idea to hound out certain players etc and didn't like that but that was the opinion of some and even if it was vile at times was still representative of how they felt. We won't allow the low comments and will ask for it to be edited or removed voluntarily and hope that the members keep each other in check, but if it's mostly friendly then we can grow together.

We won't simply ban for the sake of it. We just have a passion for our county like those that went before us

Obviously though, referees are fair game!! (joking)
Obviously!! Joking back.

They do get a hard rap, but if it's truly justified, then why not. Just as long as it's a discussion and not a character assassination. Same as CB. If they make mistakes then we can talk about it, but hopefully it's a support of all they do, but again no reason not to discuss what they do wrong

Best of luck with the site. Disappointing that the old site felt the need to close, but given the association with the County, there were probably higher demands on it in the way of moderation which made it impossible to continue.
Thank you Rufus and very kind of you to come over. We've talked about this for several months as a couple of friends got bans for literally nothing. We weren't really ready to go which is why it looks like a work in progress. It is. But with the official forum closed abruptly we felt it best to offer an alternative and let it grow with the members. We're open to suggestions either publicly or privately.

The official forum was a fantastic place for info and as you suggest really well run. We will allow loose reigns as long as it's friendly. Don't want to ban users. We're where friends can meet, help and share. We will monitor the official site, the official GAA site and other counties and tie in any info that is useful to all of us. All admin and those associated with setting this up are very active club members, so we'll be informed of what is proposed and going on. Nothing of a sensitive nature will ever knowingly be posted by admin or a moderator but our aim is to inform and fill a need while providing space for a bit of craic. We hope that some if not all the regulars find us, so spread the word if you think this will be a fit for you and your friends. Feel free to start threads to promote all your own clubs and activities.

I'm assuming the old forum is gone permanently as opposed to just a temporary suspension?
From what we're hearing that seems to be the case. There have been rumblings for a while now since it was talked about at convention a couple of years back.

We just thought it was time to offer an alternative anyway with slightly fewer restrictions, but maintaining the same ethics, standards and levels of information. We will depend a lot on members for the last part

Absolutely. You're very welcome and thank you for joining. We're trying to keep things friendly and also need robust discussions. Opinions of all colours are encouraged. Some won't like them, others will. That's what opinions are for.

Ur staunch defense of your club despite all the flack won my respect. When a club like Cross dominate for so long, when the tumble comes everyone is waiting. It's human nature. Perhaps even jealousy. Id take the heat as a compliment lol. I wish my club was in Cross' "transitional" period.
