I would not be surprised. The second call he blew against St Mary's I missed and I was trying to watch out for it. I like the idea behind the rule but it is just going to be impossible to police.

Interesting I see we played the wrong rules in cross game. Referree was stood down as apparently we played 5 hand passes not 3. I seem to remember him being vocal calling them and was sure when said today at work that's right was 5. Anyone else remember?

I also heard the referee calling out the number of hand passes at the St. Mary's match which I thought was beneficial to both the players & supporters in attendance. I can't imagine he'd have been bothered counting them if it wasn't in relation to the new rule!

I suppose the Mckenna cup is all about giving lads game time but I’d have been happier if this team had faced Antrim on Sunday and Sunday’s starting 15 was lining out against Monaghan.

In saying that we have a good chance of making the semifinals regardless of tomorrow’s result so probably makes sense.

Any team news from Monaghan?
