Very disappointing in how this was done. A lot of county delegates for clubs have been there years and are within the county click looking brownie points so no doubt went against their own clubs members who wanted a change in management and voted to keep him.

All that on top of the CB getting a ridiculous amount of votes themselves, it’s not exactly a vote by the clubs at all.

Anyway it’s done now and looking forward to 2024 where we will get more of the same handbrake up football in crucial moments. Probably finish 3rd in division 2 with McGeeney blaming the ref in the final match followed by a penalty shoot out defeat in the all Ireland quarters to Roscommon despite being 5 points up and a man up in ET. Bring it on!
So you’ve no idea how it was done then

A fair few giving out about delegates , it’s a thankless task being involved in club management committees etc
Organising teams , raising funds , organising pitches etc
Delegates are appointed by their clubs if one doesn’t like it go to their club agm and get appointed
Mc geeney gets another year so be it .

Armagh only has 48 clubs!

There was clubs that abstained!

Clearly haven’t a clue what your talking about.
You are right about the 48 clubs
BUT the club vote is 51. Dual clubs have two votes

Any reasons why you think some abstained? I'm guessing that when the vote was being taken that 46 voted yes first and those that you say abstained didn't put their hand up because they realised the vote was going to be a Yes.

The county board is made up up of club delegates and officers. This is the same in every county.
The management committee is a subset of the officers and that membership is detailed in county bye laws.
Those allowed to vote is governed by the official guide.

It's done, it's over.
This isn't a club delegate v county officer vote. It's everyone's vote.
A lot of clubs discussed this and mandated their delegate to vote.
In this instance if there was just 1 or 2 votes in it the result is the same. Just like an election for a councillor etc..
We sometimes don't like results of elections - our own history shows that. But that's the way it is.
We move on.

Given there was only one issue on the docket I doubt the hurling only clubs sent representatives plus maybe some clubs were spilt and decided not to vote.

I’m not disputing the result I recognise more clubs voted to remain than not. But it was only ever going to be one result when you have a county management voting as a bloc with 20+ votes.

But it’s wrong to say he has overwhelming support from clubs. Or to fabricate ‘facts’ and say the exec only had 11 votes.

Any chance of it being made public?

At least we know who we can point the fingers at next season when it’s all same old same old and another wasted year with this fine group of players

Did camogie clubs, clubs with habdball and clubs woth scor get a vote?

What is the difference in these and hurling?
Out of the 48 clubs 5 don’t field football teams, 3 are dual clubs. I’m not sure if the hurling clubs voted or if the dual clubs got two votes. Maybe someone here does know? I’ll ask my club delegate next time I see him.
As for camogie and ladies football they’re not actually part of the GAA association although there is plans to bring them in.

Another year and good luck to the manager as all of us on here want to see the team do well, whether it’s the right call will be weighed up this time next year , big improvements needed tactically, game management has to be better , some freshness needs injected into the team , personally I can’t see a better chance of reaching an all Ireland semi final as we have had this year , Ulster and promotion are probably the most realistic targets.

I have noted a couple of members suggesting that the thread be closed. While I understand the sentiment behind that, there is no need to stop discussion on the subject.

However some of the comment and content is derogatory and defamatory with one being just out and out stupid making a direct accusation of corruption and illegal activity. I just don't get why some continue with that when I asked recently for help in keeping the debates robust but honest. We are dealing with this is a separate and new thread. We've had enough of the hassle it creates.

Out of curiosity, where are you going with this?

Does anyone if a presentation was made to the clubs by McGeeney on his plan for the team next season?

Or is this just based on last year's performance?

Nothing is going to change over the next year. The time for talking is over, McGeeney is manager for 2024. Just because the vote didn't go anywhere near the way some wanted, even if it did you would have needed a few to change their mind to get a majority.
