That’s a criticism of his management. When you have people talking about his wages, the cars in his driveway or other things then that’s different
What about politicians? Everyone critique's their income, their property, cars etc. They're in a public role, taking public money. That is considered free reign. Not saying I agree with it. But if McGeeney is earning good money with Armagh over the last 9 years with no silverware, I can understand why people are up in arms considering the investment.

& this is exactly where your argument becomes pointless because in truth you have no idea if or what he is getting. You can surmise all you want but without factual evidence you just come across as petty.

What he chooses to do with his money is his own business but when county resources are being used to pay for managerial services it fair to question is this money being wasted.

POSTING HERE AS THE MOST ACTIVE CURRENT THREAD

For clarity, following a few private messages:

NO we do not have a rule on anonymity. No one on this forum has a right to be anonymous and can identify themselves if they wish. IF someone "outs" someone, Admins have NO issue with that.

Some have had private messages from others which shows that they know who they are talking to. We have neither privately nor publicly named anyone via private message to any member. We have however passed on email and IP details on a legal request to our service providers (IP they can access legally anyway because of cookie settings) which we have outlined perviously. This is not an apology, but I'm sorry, we will NOT take the rap if you choose to post inaccurate and personal attacks.

Again we note that several are debating personal attacks and what constitutes a personal attack. If you truly believe what you are posting, then that's down to the individual. We can't advise against being stupid.

I don't necessarily mean this post in particular but (against my better judgement) as I can see this one now on my screen as I type I'll use it as an example:
"Any opinion positive or negative about a person is 'personal'"
Really?
So saying to or about a person "I think you may be incorrect in that decision" is the same as saying "you're a complete arsehole and wouldn't know how to do your job if you had a single braincell!"

I'm happy enough to debate this with anyone if I had the time, but I will declare upfront that I work in an environment where legal definition is absolute and paramount. I imagine most of you that work would be similar.

Completely agree with this sentiment. What the county chooses to spend money on is entirely their business and every penny is noted and disclosed in annual accounts. We've already previously covered the legal and factual aspect of this. As a management committee each member is elected into position by members of the county board who act on the instruction of their club executive who must act in the interests of the club members. Therefore that management committee act on our behalf and we entrust them with those decisions. If you care to look at who our current management are, you will see that they are all highly respectable professionals. You may not like an individual or personality, but that doesn't make them incapable of their role.

It is well documented that Kieran McGeeney is active as a fund raiser for the county. That in no way should or could influence his role. If it did then there are many who are senior team management material.

Niall obviously you are correct, but he is in an elected role and has to be accountable in the same way. I truly understand your frustration that this continues even though no one here can influence any decisions, no matter how daft they get. Leave them to it. It'll be something else soon enough!

I cannot believe these debates are still ongoing. I get why McGeeney is a polarizing figure but I wish people will stop with the payments shite. If you have hard evidence then post it, if it is hearsay from John down at Centra or in the local pub don't both posting it. The amount of shite I have heard over the years about McGeeney from hearsay alone is shocking and would say 95% of it is crap and the other 5% is twisted out of context. Neither himself or his family have to hear this crap from fellow Armagh people. He is the manager for another year, people need to come to terms with that...it isn't going to change. Stop putting more pressure on him that what he already has.

Get off his back, criticise him as a manager by all means but do it based on your own thoughts and what you know to be fact.
