Hes young, playing regularly and the only reason being reported is to concentrate on club football, that would say to me hes unhappy about something in the armagh set up. Could be no confidence in management but could also be the crazy training load being put on intercounty footballers now.
Could be 1 million different things. Best of luck to him whatever he does next and hope to see him back soon. It’s a crazy commitment at county level

Whatever the reason, he is a big loss.
Don't want to read too much into it, but it is disappointing
I agree with this, think it's a massive loss he is one of the very few players we have that would get into most teams in the county. I also wouldn't read into it having to do with mcgeeney, I'm not mcgeeneys biggest fan but he has a massive buy in compared to other county's

Sad to see him leave the panel. Was always a fan and thought he was one of our better performers under Geezer.

The championship is a long way down the line so might still be time for him to rejoin the panel. He may miss the buzz of being involved with the county.

Also past 2 years I remember few posters with plenty criticism for him and how he carried the ball into tackle, lost possession too easy, etc. But same people now up in his arms he has left the panel.

Always find it funny how people can always twist things to suit their own agenda

Shame if true about Cian but would actually wait to its confirmed, I mean if he has left I doubt he has told many people other than management, family and a few cross teammates. Not like they are training together at present with the club season in full swing. As Stevie says, love how people twist stuff.

Armagh have probably the lowest drop out rate of any county panel id hazard a guess over the last 9 years, but still people want to paint a picture of an unhappy camp. Very odd, but each to their own. Every so often however, very rarely in this county, young fellas decide to prioritise other things in life over football, BIG DEAL.

By all accounts from last season, Cian wasn't tearing up any trees in the A v B games or friendlies, so it he wants to go do his own thing instead of fighting for his place that's entirely his choice and I would wish him nothing but the best, one of the best club footballers in the county but doesn't always mean it automatically carries into county level. Its a lot different being marked by a Chrissy Mckaigue or a Michael McKernan than by a corner back at club level.

I have no doubt his time at county will come especially as Murnin, Soupy and Grugan step away.....and yes it would have been nice to see more of him, but to suggest McKeever, Donaghy and Geezer don't play him on purpose is delusional, on what basis would they want to hamper the success of the team? Next story some will spout will be they have an issue with Gilligan coming onboard. Who needs rival fans when you have some of your own fans!!

Nobody is forced to commit, or stay. Leave it to those who are willing!
Role on the 2024 season :)

Just for the purpose of putting this argument to bed for another year.

James Morgan has been quoted in an interview with The Irish News "Kieran got the majority of votes from the clubs and he got full backing from all of the players, so Armagh want Kieran McGeeney behind the wheel". https://www.irishnews.com/sport/gaa...re_there_could_be_something_on_here_-3727818/

A good read. Wishing James a speedy recovery following his recent surgery!

In fairness, what else would he say? Not looking to spin an agenda here, but the reality is players are media trained/savvy. It's done now, anyone saying anything to the contrary is not going to change things this year.

Unreal. Players come out and say McGeeney has their full backing and people think its media training
Was he going to say otherwise if he didn't back him? It's ratified, nothings going to change. Not saying James thinks otherwise, but yes players are savvy for media questions and 100% this is discussed in camps - how to deal with media etc.

It's a baseless question, only going to get one answer irregardless.
