Same team that started v Monagahan?

Need all those lads if any chance on Sat!! Hear mayo's fb line easily exposed on sat in Marshes. Did COC play?

Sooner or later we were going to have to play another division 1 team. Monaghan are a team that have not clicked this season and while we won the game comfortably it is difficult to gauge where we are at.

Mayo are one of the big consistent teams and if we want to see if progress has been made then this is the game we needed. There is no pressure on Armagh now, they can go out and play against a team who don't set themselves up defensively. However we do need to make sure their players are marked well and nothing is given easy.

Honestly this may seem like the toughest draw but so did Monaghan. Mayo are a good side but they have vulnerabilities in my opinion. They conceded 1-11 to an average enough Down team. Mooney gets that second goal chance and who knows how things turn out. If we can get a hard running approach at them they will cough up free opportunities. MF will be key and hopefully Grimley will be fit. Was in a sling yesterday and depending on how that heals will have a big bearing on it. I would worry to an extent about our defence but unlike some of the other teams Mayo have a unit as opposed to outstanding forwards. 4 of their scores came from defenders. Closing Lee Keegan down from HB is key. Not easily done.

I think if we can break even in MF then at the minute our forwards confidence is very high and would could nick this. Tough as but fortune favours the brave.

2 main worries are who will mark AOS & Keegan?

Forker on Keegan as a spoiler? Grimley on AOS? None of their fwds would worry too much.

Tough draw.

There are no bad players in the Mayo team or squad. They have depth. Their issue is that many of the top players that have given them an edge are past their very best. The exception are O’Shea, Durcan and Keegan. All runners from deep. Addressing runners is key.

Keeping them busy is the way to go. Keep men forward and put some ball in their quickly. Every ball doesn’t need to go quick but have to make Mayo fear that the next one will

I heard that Morgan was out for a year but I was hearing this 2nd hand so no idea how true this is, no doubt @bcb1 will know the truth.

Folks - apologies in advance if anyone thinks it is inappropriate to start a new thread for this game, and if Admin feel it appropriate then it can be deleted. However I'd prefer a separate thread for this game. Hopefully most agree.
Perfect Rufus.

Always feel free to do what you think is appropriate for the forum. Same for anyone else.

Obviously the worst possible draw, but Mayo are vulnerable. They do not have a great fullback line, so it'll be essential to get big games from Jamie and Rian. Jarly og is probably one of the few players in the country who can match up physically with Aidan O'Shea. Matthew Ruane is out for the year, which is a huge loss, and there's still no sign of Cillian O'Connor, who not only is one of the best forwards in the country, but also Mayo's only reliable free-taker.

The clear mismatch is Mayo's halfback line. I don't know if Armagh has anyone that can play with Keegan and Durcan.

It'll be a very tough game, but I think Armagh has a real chance. If they can hold Mayo to less than 15 points, I'd say Armagh wins the game.

While disappointed that we won't have a home match again (We'll get one in the super 8s ;)) I feel this is a great challenge for our team. We are going in as huge underdogs, but playing at the moment with great momentum. I feel we have improved game on game this year.

Having watched Donegal yesterday, it was a bit of a blessing we did'nt make the Ulster Final, as Donegal are head and shoulders the best team in ulster at the moment. All the pressure will be on Mayo saturday night, they bring great colour and huge support to all their games, particularly at home, we can use this to our advantage. Theres definetly space in behind their backline, keep Jamie close to goal..... we can win this one... C'mon Armagh
