Aye throw me under the Bus Paul! lol
Pretty much the way most will likely be this week so I think you nailed it.Anybody caught between fear and optimism and not sure what to post/think/say?

Sadly Twitter will be my friend on Saturday. I'm trying to figure how to contain myself when the final whistle goes being in a place not sympathetic to gaelic games at that time.
If we win we have a 0% chance of playing the winners of those games as we would play a provincial final loserI am hoping this means more to us than Mayo and the hunger the lads show will get us over the line. Winner has a 66% chance of playing the victors of Westmeath/clare and Laois/Offaly for a place in the All Ireland 1/4 finals, a home game and a game in Croker. What a prize that is for this team, one every single supporter geezer basher or not would have taken your hand off for at the beginning of the year. So if you need to camp out, fly to knock, or hire a bus, wear orange and get to Castlebar on Saturday night and give the lads one big push over the line.
Completely right Niall, for some reason I thought there was another round (as if there isn't enough as it is). Wishful thinking, nonetheless, I think get past Mayo and we will not fear Cork, Meath or GalwayIf we win we have a 0% chance of playing the winners of those games as we would play a provincial final loser
We certainly wouldn’t! But let’s focus on the (major) task in hand firstCompletely right Niall, for some reason I thought there was another round (as if there isn't enough as it is). Wishful thinking, nonetheless, I think get past Mayo and we will not fear Cork, Meath or Galway

HOWEVER (head above the pulpit here) I think [and it's just meandering] that this has elements of a few years back against Galway, with similar weather forecast and a bit of optimism after a good game. We went down to Galway, overheated in the warm up and lost our way against a good team we had a chance of beating. I believe we CAN beat Mayo this weekend, just because they are vulnerable. Ok they won the league with a good run, but everyone agrees that league and championship are two different animals. How did Mayo get on in Connacht this year? Where they unbeatable? Where they awesome? Inspirational? Average?
I'd say average. I'd say we are average and improving. They are average with their best behind them, at least for now, which to me makes them vulnerable. Few outside our county..............................hmmm! Ok even some within our county, are not giving us a chance, so what is there to fear? Certainly not a loss as it's expected, so let our lads go out and play ball and enjoy the occasion. Let's go down fighting and you know what, it'll be a pleasantry arriving home at 1am or whatever with a big broad smile on our face. Lose and give it everything and we retain our pride and still smile in the way we did against Donegal in Croke Park a few years back when we could have nipped it. As favourites they have to get lucky all day. We only have to get lucky once!
Rian is showing he is a major all round threat and seemingly loving playing at the minute. Jamie can get 3 pointers, Soupy can get 3 pointers, Shieldsy can nab a 3 pointer, Jarlath Og can hit a 3 pointer, Nugent gets close, Murnin fit can scare the pants off anyone (any more word on him yet) Grimley and McKay can chip over from distance, Grugan has been known to get an occasional score, along with Vernon and Duffy adding from time to time. What is to fear if they all go out and give it a crack?
