Mayo v Armagh

Saturday's game is the sort of contest all involved have worked hard to participate in. The white heat of championship action will have followers from both counties on the edge of their seats come throw-in time. Our boys come into the game with justified confidence after dismantling Farney fragility so well last time out.
This game is an opportunity to set new markets for what this team can achieve in this and future campaigns.
What a fantastic array of talent we have within our current squad and it was extremely encouraging to see how well we game-managed the game at Clones from the line last weekend.
We need to be clinical in all areas to maximise our chances in Castlebar and we do have a genuine chance.
We as supporters have our role too as Mayo have a hunger for success that can sometimes only be surpassed by Armagh followers. On Saturday, Mayo will have the backing of a strong support and the larger, more boisterous and more colourful our support are could give our boys the inches required on the pitch to reach the last twelve.

Any Madden lads on here shine any light on Grimley’s injury? He had a massive game the last day and I think without him we might not fully expose the obvious weakness that Mayo has in that sector now.

If he’s unfit I think it will be Crealey or Charlie to come in but also increasing likelihood that we will see Oisin come in for his first action of the season.

As far as we know Niall was back training tonight. He hurt his elbow last week but nothing serious. Hopefully he'll be playing some part on Saturday night!

Well folks, was a member on the old forum a couple of years back and didnt realise this one existed. Im living in Belfast these days and will be planning to leave at 2pm at the latest. Thinking Enniskillen - Belcoo - Manorhamilton and down to Tobbercurry, Swinford and into castlebar that way. Never been to Castlebar for a match, is there handy enough parking available? Want to make sure I arrive in time.

We travelled to the league game in 2011 & my recollection is that we got parked in a car park close to the ground. However I'm not sure what parking restrictions there would be in place for a Championship match.

Parking in a tesco Dunne’s just up the road is free I was at a Connaught final and parking was a lot stricter than that league game however it is better than clones by far .

Good stat, maith thű a Liam!
Andy was Mayo's captain that day and spoke very well after his team's loss, a real gentleman and Gael at a young age at that stage of his development.

He a great servant for mayo and a great ambassador for the GAA , he’s one person outside Armagh I would love to see win an All Ireland medal although not this year but

4 changes for them, be interested on what the mayo lads on here make of the lesser known names there, 6,10, 12, 15?

On other board they seem overall fairly happy with team given current injury situation. Bit of anticipation regarding #12 Murray who apparently has been in good form (albeit for club). Thoughts seem to be that defence is a bit loose marking but midfield and half forward area intended to starve Armagh of possession.

Im not happy with that team. Cannot see where our scores are going to come from. Darren Coen dropped, who scored 5 points from play against Roscommon, was black carded inside 10mins again Down. Boland too small and adds nothing only lateral hand passes, coughs up posession easily when tackled. Plunkett at 6 is a good player, more of a holding half back as opposed to an attacking one.

McDonagh at 10 is a quality player, watch this lad in the coming years as he physically develops, scored 2 points from play against Down.

Murray at 12 is a complete unknown, wasn’t part of panel for the league. Only got in squad in April after an impressive display for his club....he’ll either sink or swim on saturday.

Just feel our team is very unbalanced, with no out and out score getter like Coen. I’d presume we’ll line up like this:
Clarke
Barrett. Harrison Higgins
Vaughan (sweepin free role)
Keegan. Plunkett. Durcan
Aidan. Murray
McDonagh. Loftus. Boland.
McGloughlin. Moran.

Sorry for the long post

Yeah Niall I heard on the radio today that the main Belfast Road in Enniskillen (for anyone basically coming from anywhere in Armagh I'd say) is subject to delays and full road closure tonight and tomorrow although they said that the authorities were aware of various sporting events this weekend and would keep it under review. Closures seem to be mostly on the Sligo side so the Lisnaskea, Carrick-On-Shannon from @Bo Darville might be a good option. Just be aware that there is (at least was a week or so ago) restrictions and diversions around Lismnaskea for road works.

Just off the phone to organisers of Enniskillen road races, Sligo road will be open, the Swanlibar road will be closed. Ill head via Tempo from Fivemiletown which would bring you directly in the back end of Enniskillen and on to the Sligo Road.
