Mayo v Armagh

Teams do buck the trend but that is with innovative thinking and tactics. More that likely it will result in playing ugly football and having little success after one season. What happened to Down and Greece after their success?

This team is being setup up for long term success.

We were a team on the go for 10 years and only won Sam once. Down were a one season wonder and nearly won as many AI’s.

Agree with most points (O’Neill been training less than 8 weeks and mcquillan playing u20) so will not yap on.

Thought Blaine could have done better for 1st goal, 2nd goal was quality from mcloughlin. He lost a few kick outs but what keeper doesn’t? I’m nearly sure he didn’t lose any 2nd half?

Jamie and soupy pure quality and credit to them for coming back in and working so hard. Jamar proves critics wrong. Burns immense on Moran. Hughes unreal again. Donaghy so vital to team. Burns and O’Neill will have learned from this year and will add to talent.

Tell you what lads, there’s more pride in the jersey with this team/management than there has been in years since the golden period ended. Geezer built this team, the players trust him and will play for him (other wise why would they all commit if they didn’t rate him?). A change in management at this stage will just rest things a bit too much, I say give him a 2 year contract and let them have a good go at it.

Many people say we could be a super 8s team, I disagree. Played 4 games against div 1 teams and should have won them all. The players will learn and can go further. Excited to watch the next few years.

Took at least 7 steps before he went around our defender .

Positioning was very poor for the second goal

Like a lot of keepers Blaine sets himself very low, this gives you a chance to get down to your left or right quickly but given that he’s not the tallest it leaves him suspect to a shot hit high. Had he actually been standing slightly taller McLoughlns shot would have hit him in the face.

Tyrone won 3 AI's in that 10 year spell but were average in ulster championship

Football had changed since then. A lot of teams are bringing professional attitudes to the game. The qualifiers are a minefield and a lot of teams can beat each other on their day.

If we gain promotion to division 2 it means we have found form. We can develop gameplans and apply new ideas. Condition players. We have a young team, we don't need to time when we peak like we did post 2003.

If we play well in the league it gives players confidence for the championship. We win Ulster or at least appear in the final we aren't playing 70 mins every week in the qualifiers.

And he would have saved it. FWIW I think yer man miskicked it. Was a lucky enough goal

You obviously watched a different semi final than me. He certainly didn’t stand out.
I will repeat what I said earlier. It’s 2 years since Oisin kicked a ball for the county. I am not surprised he didn’t come on yesterday or before.
I would agree about Grugan, I was calling for him to be dropped. Played well yesterday in fairness to him

Folks ffs stop this whinging shite.

Do you think for one minute if Oisin O’Neill was fully fit he wouldn’t be playing. Of course he would or his brother wouldn’t be playing. Geezer loves these lads but he can’t play a half fit fella. He hurt his ankle and got surgery. Everyone knows that so shut the f**k up. The lad wasn’t fully fit.

McQuillian. Holy Christ. He was an u20 and couldn’t play. He will play next year if he’s about. Geezer doesn’t make up the rules lads. Has to operate within them. But if he does stay lads he’s a class player no doubt.

Hopefully another few make the jump up from the u20 team and then we have a very robust squad. We will be pushing for an Ulster title next year.

I wouldn’t be pushing young McConville too much. Jamar is very small and light and it took him at least 4 seasons to become a regular starter. But fair play to the lad, he stuck at it and nailed his shirt down. How many young lads would do that today. I can honestly say I never thought Jamar could make the first 15. I thought he was just too small for the modern game. Fair play for his stickability. Will young McConville have similar stickability?? I hope so. Cause he ain’t waking straight onto the first 15.

I travelled yesterday an whilst disappointed I was immensely proud of those lads. The amount of Mayo supporters I chatted to saying we were the better team by far.

For me, Geezer built this team. He deserves a two year contract to win Ulster imo. If he doesn’t then yes let’s freshen it up. Geezers blood runs orange lads - that’s one thing we can all agree.

The dream team would be McEntee with Geezer but that never happening.......

Oisin is fit. Lad has been rearing to go. And had we won last night not only do I think he would walk but I think his father might have pulled him and Rian. Rightfully so. He's a class act. Watching Charlie Vernon coming on while he sits on a bench. It's ludicrous. I honestly want McGeeney to go. Jason Duffy, Jarly Og Burns, Oisin O'Neill, Ross McQuillan and Rian O'Neill all need to be starting.

I'm terribly sorry if that doesn't sit well with the people on here who want the Vernons, Donaghys and Grugans to start.

The best 15 in the county includes youth. Without those five we aren't playing our best 15.

The amount of people on here who have questioned the possibility of Ross or Oisin starting clearly don't watch them play. Are they in our best 15? To suggest not is both insulting and laughable.

We need a goalkeeper badly.

1. ...
2. J. Morgan
3. P. Burns
4. P Hughes
5. R. McQuillan
6. C.O'Neill
7. J. Duffy
8. J Og Burns
9. O. O'Neill
10. A. Nugent
11...
12. J. Hall
13. S. Campbell
14. R. O'Neill
15. J. Clarke

I would love to see that HB line within the next two years.

1 and 11 are issues. Either O'Neill could do 11 and McQuillan can do midfield. Massive options available.

Fair enough in regards to youth, but how many times does it need to be repeated; mcquillan COULD NOT play as is u20 and Oisin O’Neill IS NOT FIT. Don’t put words in the O’Neill’s mouths, you don’t speak for them. If they didn’t want to be part of the squad they wouldn’t be, nobody is putting a gun to their head to play for the county. So unfair to disregard donaghy our most reliable player. Yes give youth a chance but you can’t throw lads straight from u20 straight into senior championship, give them time to grow.

Oisin is fit and ready to go. Has been for weeks. The lad told me that himself. Ross should start next year. If Oisin doesn't I can't see why he wouldn't walk. He'd take Rian with him. You just put not fit in capitals. I'd take his word over yours.
