Mayo v Armagh

Personally, as good as Rian is, I don’t think he’s as good as Ronan Clarke was.

That’s no disrespect to Rian but Clarke was exceptional.

I think it is a difficult comparison to make. Ronan Clarke was part of our most successful team. Rian however could be part of an even better team.

With that being said Ronan Clarke played like he had been around for years when he first came on to the team.

I’m not comparing them as players
I’m comparing age
It’s this stupid u-20 rule. I used to enjoy the minor match before the seniors it gave young players a taste for big match games. Now nobody bothers with u17s or u-20s like they did the minors

Good man. Jason Duffy, Ross McQuillan, Oisin O'Neill Jarly Og Burns and Rian O'Neill all start for me. If I'm wrong no problems. Only an opinion.
In the team you listed earlier you didn't start Jason Duffy so kind of contradicting yourself there aren't you, so go on who would you start Duffy over also didnt start donaghy, forker grimley and murnin so not gonna think much of your opinion. Also was not saying mcquillian isn't good enough to start, personally I do think he should have got game time but the constant bigging him up on here is not doing the lad any favours so just asked you to give it a break. But your just a complete shit stirrer so no point biting

Explain that then
Did Ross not play senior championship last year?
I’m not saying whether he should or shouldn’t be playing I’m just questioning the excuses being made in relation to that u-20 rule.
If he’s good enough play him and forget about the u20s
By the way I wasn’t shit stirring

Did you read/see any interview he might walk I'll try to find link. He said when you start managing few like you when you finish nobody likes you..maybe hes reading this form..really hope he stays..

I read it but don't think you can read too much into it. Earlier in the year Mickey Savage was backing McGeeney to stay in beyond this year (before the kick of the ball in the championship).

I thinks he’s built this team so give him another couple of years with them.
He could be another version of the two Brian’s as in he builds the team and a cross man comes in to take the glory

Hope he does. Loved his quote about the ref

I really do not know what to think. His management career has spanned the best part of a decade and he has won nothing. But this is his team and there is a part of me that thinks he should get another crack of the whip but then I'm back to the first point.

I know I've asked this before but what has happened to Aaron Findon?

Couldn't argue with anything you said but the one issue I had this year was not starting or at any stage playing Oisin.

I'm a massive fan of Geezer. Yet it appears he has his favourites. Is he divisive? I think so.

Oisin got the injury just before Christmas. Despite what gobshites have posted on here he was excellent in the club championship. County and Province. Big Johnny went missing in the Ulster championship and Oisin stepped up.

But he hasn't played for Armagh in two years.(What a great stat). Reason enough to keep him off the starting team. And while they're at it drop Rian. McQuillan and Duffy are both average too. None of them ever played (senior)for us before this year.

Thank God we have Charlie and Grugan. No need for these young lads.

You weaken your argument substantially by with these repeated petty snipes at Vernon and Grugan.

Firstly, neither of those two players started consistently this summer. Grugan lost place in the forward line while newbies in O'Neill and Nugent started. Newer lads like McKay and Burns were favoured in defence to Vernon, while Burns and Crealy both appeared to be ahead in the queue at midfield. It is therefore nonsense to promote the idea that the exclusion of your favourites was due to misplaced loyalty to certain experienced players.

Secondly, Vernon and Grugan have been two of our best players for years. Grugan in particular, despite poorer form this season, has probably been the county's best player over the period of the last five years. Any decent manager would, and should, hesitate to dispense with such proven performers.

When something is new and shiny it is not necessarily better. It's important to remember that.
