The game today was billed by many including on here as a big step up from last week.
4 up heading to half time and a mistake cost a point and then a good score by Mayo with their tails up brought it back to 2 at the break.
According to media, our disallowed point was 100% a score going by the rear camera. Only the usual reaction from the Mayo keeper differed. The Mayo "dodgy" point was "almost certainly" wide by the same analysts.
A great rounded performance by ALL who took to the field today. Those who love to have a pop that were quiet after last week, just catch on. This team has improved. They're not All Ireland winers yet, but are giving it everything. If you are stuck in the era of "they're not great and the leader needs to go", just name the division 2 or 3 team that would have worried them out there today. Sure a couple of years ago it was frustrating to watch them draw with the likes of Sligo, but most naysayers would say that Mayo were one of the top 6. These lads pulled back a 5 point deficit going into injury time to get a deserved draw. Kevin McStay said in his interview that Armagh were "excellent and tenacious in their approach and execution of their plan. An extremely difficult team to break down and we knew they have serious quality throughout and were to be treated with respect and a threat to any decent team. They showed their determination to win, in their game against Galway last summer with a great never give up attitude until the final whistle." I'll take that from someone that has always praised us over the years when we do well and criticises when we are poor. He was also very complimentary about the Armagh support behind him saying he enjoyed the good natured banter with them
Rian is superb, but needs to keep his emotion in check. Yeah the Mayo full forward deserved some "attention" for being an ass, but use your talent to abuse him. It's also lovely to see he is human and can miss a few. Just wish he wouldn't.
Referee was a complete plank (both ways and done us no harm) and as for his officials..............well lets just say you could probably put some nails in them too!
First week in February and an almost full house in Armagh. Absolute pleasure to have seen that. Soccer locally "should" be so jealous of the superb product we have.
Pat on the back to
@JoeH for being the first to mention the 32nd minute. So fantastic to see such a well applauded moment in time. The respect for a tragic loss was fantastic and all of those from Mayo that, to a man from where I was, all joined in will I hope be heart-warming to the McNally family. Let's hope they get the justice and peace any family deserves after tragedy.
Next up, another road trip. A game I'd like to think we are targeting for 2 points
