Yea he's right ulster is not really Important and will be like this going forward it will become less and less prestigious.
I think we need to have some experience of playing in finals. At present, it is still a big deal but yes I agree it is going to lose its prestige eventually.

I think ulster teams will eventually cop on that winning ulster will likely end up hindering their teams chances due to the blood Bath it takes to win it comparsion to other provisionals its hard to believe the have equal proportional statuses and until that issue is straightened out the gaa competitions won't be fair an balanced

The game will have to go ahead on the day at the same time as the others as it would give an unfair advantage to both teams if they knew they were safe (Monahan were bate).

What a nightmare?! Well for me anyways…. The last thing I wanted was a dogfight in Healy Park to stay up. However it is what it is.

My twopence worth is that I’ve watched both Armagh and Tyrone this year and it’s amazing to hear exactly the same comments coming from both sets of supporters. I’m convinced that 90% of them have no clue about football as they are totally focused on the lack of a performance that they had expected in their heads. Very little look at how the other team has set up or what plays are trying to be executed at different stages in the game.

It was easier for me to see what Tyrone were up to when I wasn’t so invested in the performance. They got off to a shaky start in the League. Most of the lads that I’ve a pint with up here in Divingmidgetland were calling for management’s heads, spouting rumours about player dissent and overall disapproval of Tyrone’s tactics. I wasn’t seeing what they were seeing. They were experimenting with making the long ball stick but all I could hear was stupid pass, McShane’s done, what sorta shite is this?

After the depression of Saturday’s game, I too found myself one of the 90% in the “overly invested in a performance” bracket but to my surprise when the analysis was done by the Divingmidgets, Galway were ultra defensive, Armagh weren’t clinical enough at crucial stages, yes the referee’s performance was brought up and that Armagh look a serious unit at the back was mentioned more than enough times.

Tyrone is now making that ball stick with rotating midfielders staying up and Armagh has built a seriously tight defensive unit.

Roll on the nightmare!

I’ve just watched the game back last night and I’m not nearly in as bad a form as Saturday night.
At the game I was happy enough with the set up … pushing up on kick outs and winning our fair share of ball around the middle but wasn’t happy with our attacking play when we where in possession.
Watching it again I actually couldn’t believe the amount of shots and possible shots that we made…. just not brave enough or confident enough to take the shots on.
As a team we don’t seem to start playing properly until a goal is scored against us or we’re in trouble on the scoreboard.

Agreed and it sounds like a documentary I watched on car crashes (no pun and it is relevant). 150 people were asked to fully recount in detail what happened. That was made up of drivers, passengers and witnesses. That was then collated and compared to dash cam and cctv footage. In only 11% of remembered detail was there any accuracy. It seems the human mind fills in blanks and makes us see [or not see] things as they actually happen.

Good to hear from you OIF , I see HBO made a series about you travels In Tyrone called ‘ The last of Us’ stay away from the infected.

I have seen Tyrone not in person but on the box against Kerry and the improvement in their performance was evident the intensity, and speed from backs to forwards was very impressive , note the scores in the last 2 games after getting tanked by Mayo scoring 2-15 against Monaghan and 1-15 against Kerry in our last 2 games we have scored 1-5 against Galway and 13 points against Donegal. So they have tweaked and remedied the issues that your acquaintances were highlighting, let’s hope we can react the same way on Sunday .

Most teams work the ball to a position where they only shoot if it’s a 99% chance of scoring. So they work it and work it, back and forward, sideways and every way. It can be hard to watch, and the longer it goes on, the harder it is to actually score, or take a shot as the opposition have most of their players back.

Playing like that leads to very formulaic scores. Rehearsed, orchestrated. Nothing off the cuff.

I remember reading Kevin Cassidy talking about the Kildare 2011 game. Apparently before he struck that winning point, he had a similar attempt moments before, and McGuinness lost the head because he missed. Cassidy said when he got the ball again , he only had one thing on his mind again, and that was to have another go. Second time around, he struck it over and Donegal won. And presumably McGuinness took all the credit.

Anyway... what was the question again?

He was part of the panel last Saturday.
Done a little bit of enquiring, and have heard from a reliable source (actually lol'd typing that) but armagh are playing challenges games during the week for their '2nd team'. They recently played Monaghan. Cian just isn't preforming at all, a lot of balls dropped short and he was actually subbed off the last 2 games. Confidence of the lad is at an all time low supposedly. Hopefully he can get himself gathered up and going again. Maybe sent back to his club for a game or 2 to get that spark back.

That's good to hear 2nd team is getting games at least, he must be shot of confidence but he is a good player and won't take much to spark him again I'd say,
