I can't see McGeeney looking at him too favourably if he doesn't make himself available.
He shouldn’t be put in the position. Surely you’d let them boys have a bit of a break. They won’t have stopped at all since preseason for Armaghs 2023 campaign whenever that began…

I don't understand people thinking we will struggle to get out of division 2 this year. Cork, Kildare, Meath, Louth, Fermanagh, Cavan are all well below us. They are all ket. If we are not beating them there is something seriously wrong. Honestly.

As for people mentioning last season. Bar the Derry game, it was the only complete performance we put together worth talking about. We completely fluked Galway down in Leitrim. They were brutal, we were poor but managed to steal it at the end.

We will be without Rian O'Neill for most of the league and maybe championship which is a big loss.

So you think we should be beating everyone in Division 2 easily but thought we were brutal last Season bar 1 game. My question is where does your optimism come from if you genuinely think we are that poor? You can't have it both ways.

Would like us to start strong and get points on the board, set a marker with hopefully a dominant display and win
My team would be above,
Strongest team we have bar Rian getting up to speed, 3 cullyhana men to come back, & Ethan

6 subs = Cian / Oisin Conaty / Higgins / McCambridge / McPartlan / Morgan

Fair play to Nugent if he makes himself available, would rather see Turbo or McConville given a go at 13
I was delighted for Nugent and the rest of the Cullyhanna lads winning the All Ireland. Tbh though, I don't see him as regular starter. Last season he was well off the pace for different reasons, but when I look at our best forwards, I wouldn't say he's in the top six or seven at the moment.

I was watching the OTB Football Podcast on YouTube earlier and the three lads on it were picking their players to watch for the season. I was thinking of one player in particular and Paddy Andrews picked him - Oisin O'Neill. I really hope we get to see some of the best of him this season. He could be a perfect foil for our other forwards and could be real focal point of the attack. It will be interesting to see how he's motoring through the first couple of games of the league.

Well folks the clock is ticking round to excited o' clock.

The upcoming season presents both a huge challenge and opportunity.

The challenge is to gain promotion against teams we are expected to and should beat. The problem therein is that division 2 represents the type of opposition we struggle against. This will be no stroll in the park but we should finish in the top 2.

The opportunity is two-fold. The first is to blood and develop some players with an eye on both the future and summer championship days when heroes can be made.

The second and biggest opportunity is to create and strengthen a winning mentality to carry into the championship. We will be expected to win every league game no matter what. Learn to deal with that expectancy to win and show we can. Being in division 2 allows that skillset to be forged and hopefully carry us beyond the quarter final battleground where we have been bloodied, bruised and beaten in recent times.

To achieve this will take yet another massive effort from the players and more importantly a willingness from management to find that balance between control and attacking abandonment that our squad can cope with and thrive on.

So looking forward to the start of the season proper and the inevitable ups and downs it will bring.

Good luck to the squad and management. For the rest of us enjoy the ride again.

He wasn’t at his best last year but year before that he was brilliant for us. Be great to see him and McQuillan nail down starting spots.

We struggle against Division 1 opposition also.

From a neutral perspective Cork, Donegal are right on our level and between Kildare and Meath one of them likely to come good this year.

Top half of division 2 is where we’re at right now, it could be anywhere in the top 4.

I really disagree with you. We have been in division 1 the last couple of years and have been exposed to the better teams more regular. Meath spent last season in the tommy tiernan cup. Kildare have been disappointing for the last number of years, as have Cork. They both produced a decent game last year in the group stages (although we all know how false some of these results can be).

We were really poor last year, and bar the Tyrone game, our biggest loosing margin was 1 point.

Our strengths lie in our attack. If we play to our strengths we are the best team in the division. If we play like we did last year then we are just the same as the rest and could be beaten by anyone on the day.

I think this is a fair assessment

I think Dublin and Kerry are top 2 but there are 10 teams after that where there isn't a whole pile between them and we are in that pack with all the division 1 teams and cork, donegal and kildare
