Fair play to Murnin, he was very good today.
Note - I didn't say he was "done" - I said his best days were behind him. Doesn't mean he can't have a great game for us on any day.

A draw was probably a fair result today - we messed up quite a bit and could have scored more, but O'Donnell missed that goal chance and Blainne saved the penalty.

Some on here feel that promotion is assured, but I feel Cavan will be very tough and the last game in Cork could be tough especially if they need the points.

Hopefully we get enough points to get back to division 1 and get to play regularly against the big boys.
Fair.

Cavan have Meath next week. Hopefully they can do us a wee favour

I do think midfield is a problem, crealy should be starting imo, and also would of liked to see more of mcpartlan but I can only assume he is injured. Our forward options are fantastic and as iv said before I'd like to see more used rather than start McElroy (played well today) in the half forward line. In saying that Our forwards where poor today grugan missed one of the worst frees iv ever seen, we played bad with the wind and Donegal let our defenders have the ball but the likes of turbitt and grugan where always crowded out, felt for mcconville tbh at the game you could see he had loads of space but the ball never came over to him, we went down blind alleys in the first half I remember a few occasions we went down the stand side got crowded out came back amd rather than switch the play to where none of their defenders where close to him we just went back to the same spot we came from. It must be frustrating for him and any forward who goes through that, imo that will be mcconvilles last start this season as he played well first 2 games but didn't see enough ball the last 2 games and with Rian and Nugent back now they will take his spot, young McGrane played well I thought, I dunno what to make of Donegal, the kick out press we all expected and heard about was shite, they tackled well but seemed a bit blunt, I was convinced at half time we would lose as they would be with the wind but although we only scored 4 the second half we defended very well.

We’ve an unbelievable squad.................
So when Jemar came on he picked up breaking ball and if a shot with a foot rather than an attempted hand pass for a point had took place we'd have won.
Every team is limited to five subs and each game is different.
Maybe v Fermanagh a different squad will be used as I'm sure after today's game some players may struggle to be ready.
None of us are at training and none of us are aware of injuries etc that some players may be carrying hence a squad.
Only 26 can be named and only five subs can be used.
You obviously have a serious issue with the management team and that's your perogative.
However we are top of division 2, unbeaten and playing pretty ok. I wouldn't like to think what you'd write if we were in kildares position

Blaine has always been a top goalkeeper. I've always felt he has got harsh criticism simply because of his size. Not only is he a top keeper he is top fella also.

Felt we let Donegal off the hook today. As Geezer said we let them back in the game towards the end off the 1st half. Something I have always felt this side can never do is really kill teams off in tight games. Thought Conor o'Neill was excellent today a real classy footballer. Great see Rian back, his point was outstanding. If had offered me a point at the start off the day would took it.

We go again next week against Fermanagh which will be a tough game.

Folks - stop with the gulf between Div 1 and todays game. I was in Healy Park last night and Tyrone were awful first half, Mayo wee atrocious second half. Todays game was an arm wrestle and we had the chance to pull away at times and Donegal had the same. As I informed my divingmidget fiends last week after the Galway game - it’s February FFS! Having a beer with a few Mayo fans that stayed in Omagh last night. I said the same. “Youse owned the League last year and the arse fell out of your trousers come championship”. There’s eff all difference between what I watched today and what I’ve watched in Div 1.

Let’s not get animated in February.
Agreed 100%

That game today was exactly what Division 1 was like for us last year. Tight affair, could have went either way.

Division 2 standard is Meath, Kildare etc and we all know what happened there.

I agree re blaine, he is a great lad and a good keeper I know many a person who criticised him just because he wasn't as good as beggan or Morgan I remember what it was like for a year or 2 before him, it was bad he brought stability to that position, I do think Rafferty will get in nets again because him carrying the ball is an attacking tool against mass defences but I'm delighted to see Blaine do well

I think the arse will fall out of Derry. Too good too early. A few injuries to key people and they become average. Watch this space….
So you’re saying they’d be worse if their best players got injured? That’s true of every team

I agree - Dubs / Derry / Kerry apart, there's not a whole pile between the rest in div 1 ourselves & Donegal.
Would put money on there being no more than a score between ourselves and Derry again. And we seem to have found a penalty saving goalkeeper this year?

Sickening to not be coming away with a win there but relief at the same time given they had a penalty saved by Blaine and your man shit the bed when through one on one.

Positives first as always- great crowd, great to see the flags there and the noise was unreal. Some of our play was great to watch today up until the shot which let us down a good few times.

McElroy I thought was superb, got through serious work and linked the play and even got a score or 2 himself if I remember rightly great to see given the stick he has got in the past. Blaine was unreal we barely lost a kick out all day and the penalty save- lets just say we could have been doing with him a time or 3 in the last couple of years. First class. Conor O’Neill was brilliant especially in the first half, driving us forward and had a couple of excellent scores. As for Murnin- some performance for a fella thats supposedly done, covered serious ground, won us kickouts when we needed to go long and obviously did the business in front of the posts too. Conaty didnt have as flashy a game as the last few days out but worked hard and got a great score in the first half.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing Rian back, he’s got that extra wow factor that very few players in the country have and we’ll need him firing if we want to compete with the big boys this year. A pity he didnt catch that first shot properly, but then goes a scores from a crazy angle. Few weeks and he’ll be cutting teams to shreds.

Few negatives obviously- would have to question the decision to take Forker off- felt we lacked a leader to dictate play, surely a fella with his experience should be trusted to play on a yellow card? Conor O’Neill another one I thought could have been left on although maybe he had an injury? Another criticism was that McElroy was clearly signalling for a good while that he needed to come off and was half hobbling around and nothing was done, fair play to the lad he gritted his teeth and soldiered on but surely fresh legs were the answer there.

Said on here during the week that Jarly Og didn’t look fit- I take that back it is laziness, has a great burst of speed to get forward and seems to be in slow motion when he has to track back. Between that, carrying the ball into contact and seemingly being unable to kick the ball I don’t think he deserves his place. Disappointed that Oisin O’Neill didnt get his chance today, think his physicality would have been a great help around the middle and he would have likely got on the end of a few of the moves towards the end.

Turbitt was very disappointing today, not doing enough defensively imo, missed a scorable enough free and again just not at himself against higher quality opposition- well and good destroying shite teams but needs to up his game against the better ones. No doubting his talent we just need more from him.

Apart from those couple of gripes, think management have to be praised, we seem to be playing more positive than last year, the kickout issue is working. I know we failed to win another tight game, but they can’t be blamed for Rian missing from the D in front of the nets, Grugan missing a tap over free, Jarly Og not being willing to kick from 14 yards and Soupy missing handy scores among other mistakes.

Think I’ve ranted on enough now- overall more positives to take from that than negatives, Cavan game is massive now so hopefully get the same support out and get a win that’ll more or less see us promoted. Sitting nicely, seen we haven’t a whole pile to fear from Donegal and still lots of lads to come back in.
